Something they don't teach you in high school government/civics: the US #constitution is completely up to interpretation, and laws might as well be a bunch of ideas with the legal force of scribbles on a napkin.

Today proves that Republicans were serious about one promise: to cut taxes for the wealthy. All the rest was bullshit.

Trump Tariffs Hit Antarctic Islands Inhabited by Zero Humans and Many Penguins
The Heard and McDonald Islands are among the dozens of targets of President Donald Trump's latest round of tariffs. But they have no exports, because no one lives there.

I'm 90% sure at least one of the members of that Signal chat would fall for a "Nigerian Prince" email.
March 26, 2025 at 11:24 PM
Ironically, #Signal, being end-to-end encrypted, despite probably not being an "approved" medium in which to discuss sensitive military planning, would likely be very secure.

However, never underestimate stupidity. It's like how phishing scams beat a lot of cyber security.

It's almost like this country is run by idiots.
American war planning usually takes place in highly secure facilities. But the Trump administration planned its strikes on the Houthis using a group chat—and accidentally included The Atlantic’s editor in chief, @jeffreygoldberg.bsky.social. theatln.tc/AmsjsuT6

Primary every single Senate Democrat that votes for this spending bill.

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.

Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.

Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

I love watching #Tesla's stock price crater, but let's not forget that it's been overvalued for years. There's no way it's one of the most valuable companies in the world.

Also, remember that a lot of stock market valuation is vibes and speculation. Basically gambling.

Donold is now classifying protests at Tesla dealerships as ‘domestic terrorism.’

Protest at a Tesla dealership and you get arrested as a terrorist.

But attack the Capitol and you get a pardon.

For the first time in 10 years, a child has died from measles in the United States.

Vaccines prevent measles.

Americans need to hear our top health officials say clearly: every child in America should get vaccinated against this terrible disease.

Another day, more #tariffs another market selloff.

Buckle up because things are just getting started. It's gonna get WEIRD.

There's nothing like living through the 3rd recession of your adult life. But hey, at least this time a plurality (< 50%) CHOSE economic self-immolation 🤷‍♂️

I figure it's a long shot but since I follow two of my favorite authors here, @stephenking.bsky.social and @scalzi.com, what is the best way to buy #ebooks that gives authors the largest benefit?

In other words, which online store gives authors the most money per sale?

25% tariffs are now in place. Time to watch our economy burn to the ground. I'm sure if things get too bad, Putin has a nice penthouse in Moscow waiting for Trump.

Look for your congresspeople here.
Did Russia invade Ukraine? Is Putin a dictator? The Atlantic asked every GOP member of Congress these questions; 19 responded. We will continue to update this list as they do.

This disgusts me. The history books will not be kind to these fascists.
Breaking News: The U.S. opposed a UN resolution backed by most of Europe to condemn Russian aggression in Ukraine, a sharp shift in American policy. The Trump administration voted against that resolution and introduced its own that simply called for an end to the conflict.

This video summarizes my feelings, too. It's one reason why I'm reevaluating my social media usage.

The opening example of having to "manually" find information is something I do every day for fun (big nerd) and is important for my job/career.

I want to use tech not be told what to do by it.
