A moth got into the shelter tonight and it was the event of the season.

Told our vet techs I’m turning 40 tomorrow and they just looked at me like I’d grown an extra head. 😂

took a few sketchy comms in my server the other day, this is one of emmm of lovely cadsuane for @lordkaio.bsky.social 🍁🍂🐾
someone have to give up a beloved pet.
Yeah, it’s definitely a sign of the times we’re living in.

If you do run into anyone who needs help with feeding their animals though, please have them reach out to local rescue organizations, shelters, and food banks. Most of us would rather share some of our food supplies and donations than see
You can actually still see his shaved belly here in these photos from where they had to go in and do exploratory surgery to find the remaining testicle.
testicle he has been an entirely different cat. Sweet, calm, flirty, and makes the best noises.
Poor dude was having all sorts of hormonal issues and no one knew why.
she took him for her program and started working with him. We immediately noticed that his urine was RANK. After some research we found out that he only had one testicle removed at neuter- he was a nut smuggler and had that stray testicle tucked up in his rib cage. 😬
Post removal of the offending
Lafayette was surrendered to the local ASPCA for a whole suite of undesirable behaviors at two years old. Rachel was called in to assess him for adoptability and took me along with her. We met with a terrified and very anxious high strung cat who had nowhere to hide. He was kind of a hot mess- so
Adoptions have been really slow for both of our rescues, but this little dude is SO good I would steal him in a heartbeat if my house wasn’t already full of cats!!
Rachel of Super Furiends is out of town and I live two blocks from her house so I’ve been helping handle her fosters while she’s gone.

I can’t believe Lafayette still hasn’t been adopted, he’s one of my favorites of the cats she’s worked with.

Local food pantries wouldn’t be an option, though, whereas they often are for the more common domestic animals.
Definitely not as many resources, but I’d imagine reaching out to local reptile specific rescues would have the same result- it’s easier to keep an animal in its loving home by parting with some bulk food you already have around, than it is to house and rehome it.
Having and not having money are not defining factors in what makes a good pet owner. There are rich people who euthanize their animals for the simplest issues because they don’t think they’re worth it, and poor people who will move mountains to find a way to pay for an emergency.
When you see this happening please advise them to try reaching out to local rescues and shelters to ask if they have any programs that help with feeding pets. Most groups would rather see people be able to keep their pets than have to give them up!
I read this comment and immediately went to go watch Death of a Unicorn because it’s been on my list and this latest recommendation pushed me to finally do it- oh no I loved it so much.
So many unique horror movies this year, I feel spoiled. 🥹
Yeah, been a few of those… it gets better, eventually. It always does. 🫂
My brain keeps telling me that it must be something I’m not doing right because then it’s something I can fix and not just… the universe randomly being shitty and something no one can do anything about. I hate feeling helpless, that total loss of control.
You have a way with words and your comments always mean so much to me. Thank you. 🥹
No Kings protest coming up on my birthday feels very fitting.
I feel like it’s been an unusually good year for horror. Together, Weapons, Bring Her Back, Sinners, a bunch of others… some very unique and deeply distressing stuff (in the good way).
