TWO YEARS OF OTHERSIDE! Thank you, everyone, for all your support (and for bearing with all of the posts, sorry, we’re just so excited!). The last four days have been… surreal. Not to sound like a hopeless sap, but it means a lot to see all this support for queer art right now. Thank you, thank you.
WE DID IT!! WE HIT OUR $11K STRETCH GOAL—we are officially funded for TWO YEARS! You all did that in FOUR DAYS. We're emotional at the resounding support for queer stories, poems, and art. Thank you 💜

AND we revealed a further stretch goal as well! 👀

Want to know how the Stage 2 process works at CoW? At this point, stories have been read and recommended by multiple readers. Sometimes everyone loves them at Stage 1, sometimes opinions are more mixed, but if any of the team indicate they see something special, it usually goes up.

This. We see a lot of stories with beautiful prose, but sometimes they fall flat because they just don’t grab us in the horror feels.

And conversely, sometimes we see less-than-perfect writing which DOES grab us, and sometimes we opt to work with those people…
Unsolicited writing advice, no: 1276:
The secret to writing success is *to make the reader feel something.* It doesn't matter how beautiful your prose is, or how clever your premise is if the reader feels nothing for your characters or your story.

Eros (an Indian film production company) is taking a 12 year old Bollywood movie that was originally a tragedy and using AI to alter the ending into a happy one and rereleasing it into theaters. And if that wasn’t bad enough, they didn’t tell the director they were doing it?? This is fucking awful??
