London’s cycling boom shows no sign of slowing, with new Transport for London (TfL) data revealing a 43% increase in cycling journeys since 2019.

Greenwich Council has published a report that recommends the part-time traffic reduction schemes in East and West Greenwich be made permanent. The decision has been made, though is now subject to a ‘call-in’ where a group of councillors will review. Highlights from the trial include: Traffic has reduced by 66% in West Greenwich, 52% in East Greenwich and 15% in Charlton during the hours the filters are in operation.

Cycleway 4 currently runs from Tower Bridge to Greenwich. Work on the extension – which will help give people in the existing and new housing on the route more active travel choices and better direct cycle routes – started at a number of locations on 29 September and is due to be complete by 2027 for the 2.5km extension.  Section 1 Greenwich to Anchor and Hope Lane 

This is a ‘temporary’ scheme to fix the Cycleway 4 gap in Greenwich town centre.
