Just so folks aren't confused when I re-follow over the next few weeks, I'm doing some maintenance on my Bluesky account after realizing just how messy things got by going ham on following starter lists.

They're a great tool, but as with everything, moderation tends to be a better strategy 🤣

Lots of momentum getting the Etherscouts website up and running, including the ability to become an Etherscout yourself and choose a Designation!

Can't wait to start seeing Etherscouts in the database with designations like ECHO-7UI-223 or GLIMMER-P2M-A13

Because there just aren't enough uses of <marquee> on the modern internet.

Mine was too actually! Though also extremely cheap and not very interested in computers and video games 🤣

The NES was the last game system they bought for the family until a random holiday season where they asked me to go buy a Wii so we could play the bowling game lol

Are all of the celebrity commercials that are served by Acast just AI generated?

Every time Ryan Seacrest breaks into my current marathon of "My Dad Wrote a Porno" to stump for some random thing I always think "This is absolutely not a human voice"

The silliest part of this memory is that we absolutely did not have a subscription or internet connection at that point, so where did I even learn about this early internet portal?? How did my third grade self have ANY knowledge of this at all??

We'll never know lol

How it took me so long to realize how much of a nerd I'd ALWAYS BEEN I'll never know

I'll never forget when, in elementary school, someone asked me if I even knew who Prodigy was.

Needless to say, they weren't expecting me to ramble on about the early internet service from IBM, instead of the British electronic band.

It takes all of 10 seconds for the game to load and, even with some nice shaders installed, run like butter at 60+ FPS

Maybe running with every mod ever made isn’t the best idea after all 😭

Going to fire up a (mostly) vanilla #Minecraft modpack to do some testing and videos for my #TTRPG companion game Waywright!

Been a while since I’ve played without worldgen mods and other content mods. Right now it’s just 25 mostly QoL mods

A lot less than my normal pack’s 465 mods 😂

I went and got the playtest version of Waywright, my #Minecraft companion game, printed today. Just to have the experience of getting to hold it in my hand, and for annotating with playtest feedback.

It feels really neat to hold a first physical version of your #TTRPG for the first time

This buffet bested me. I have been bested.

Those chilaquiles are so crispy and fresh, my brain wanted two plates but my stomach was unwilling to budge

I think I figured out how to highlight the core points of the game

Thank you! They’ll continue to get refined as I finish the book layout, but it’s been fun.

This Etherscout Handbook presentation is gonna be applied to a whole series, so I’m trying to get it nailed down early

I think one of my favorite evolutions in Waywright recently has been around the Expedition Entry templates, the free downloadable resources folks can use to track their exploration in #Minecraft.

They went from wireframe to something that feels much better aligned with the game, fun to use

It's done, the game is out in the wild, and all I have left to do is wait.

That's a lie, I have a ton of layout, design, production, and marketing work to do. But you know... wait.

I'M LITERALLY ABOUT TO EMAIL WAYWRIGHT TO PLAYTESTERS FOR THE FIRST TIME AND I AM SO NERVOUS
An image of an email that reads:

"The playtesting version of Waywright is ready to go! I want to say thank you in advance for taking the time to offer your feedback. It’s a real dream of a game for me, and I've had a blast playing it myself.

The game is available in the .zip file linked above, along with a folder of templates and useful references sheets. The first section in the game book “Welcome, Playtesters!” shares key information on the playtest and what would be most impactful to get back from your experience.

Of particular note, it would be REALLY great to get some samples from your own Expedition Log. This kind of peek into your experience and the things you directly recorded would be a unique insight into the game. They’ll only ever be shared further if you are explicitly okay with that, which is covered in the playtesting intro.

If you have any questions before or during your testing, don’t hesitate to let me know! I’ll do my best to get back to folks as quickly as I can.

Walk well, Etherscout, and welcome."

To have the absolute privilege of leaning into a side of my creativity I consciously stepped away from for most of my life and have the butterflies of being able to share that with other people is pretty amazing.

In a world that feels darker by the day, it feels like a small light of my own.

I've been working on this game for months and this is the first time anyone but me will really see it or mess with it.

It's that moment of "Will people even get what I was trying to do here? Will this thing even be fun??" and it makes me nervously sick...

...and isn't that the coolest thing?
