I have two degrees, one in Architecture and one in Building Surveying, so it keeps my mum happy that I didn't waste my time at Uni by including such things in my books! Also, those real-world terms add a layer of verisimilitude to a novel and sell the scale and crumbling grandeur of the Imperium.
