Looking across a small, shallow by ringed by wetlands vegetation, out to a larger bay under sort of streaking puffy clouds fanning out above, under mostly blue skies. The sky and clouds are reflected in tge small bay’s water.

Trumpeters preening as a #beaver swims by, for the #BirdOfTheDay alternative #Swans. Shot this yesterday. #Hiking #Birding
Two big white swans standing in lake shallows with their long necks and heads bent down as they preen lower feathers, while meantime in front of them a beaver swims by carrying a lily pad rhizome in its mouth, heading for its lodge.

Someone suggested swans are the #BirdOfTheDay, and it so happens trumpeters arrived locally this week from their northern habitats. Here are some new arrivals, along with a resident beavers swimming by, and coots bobble-heading in the background. #Hiking #Birding #WashingtonState #AltText
