Bay Area resident. Tech enthusiast since we had an Apple II+ in our school library. I also enjoy Bay Area Sports, doodling, exploring street food stalls around the world, reading books before watching movies, and getting outside for some fresh air
Renting construction vehicles just for a spectacle celebrating a project that is not close to happening is the type of conceit only narcissists or supremely wealthy/out of touch people (of which the ven diagram overlaps considerably) would consider good business. www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/j...
Debacle in the desert: will the Athletics’ $1.75bn stadium on the Vegas Strip ever be built?
It’s been over two years since the A’s were awarded public funding for their new ballpark. But despite last month’s “groundbreaking”, its completion is anything but certain

I wasn't old enough to drink when Cheers started its long, celebrated run, and I can't remember the last time I watched an episode, but it was such a part of the zeitgeist that it's hard to forget all the colorful characters from the show.. On the Kelce brothers podcast Jason Sudekis confirmed he's writing the scripts for Ted Lasso, season 4. He also dropped that Lasso is coaching a "women's team." Given Sudekis' love for the WNBA, could season 4 involve a fictional WNBA team? 🤔

Exciting news, regardless

In a vacuum, the notion of being a 'science based' philanthropy isn't problematic. Given the context under which this was stripped away, however, this leaves a lot of questions. Not sure why a focus on diversity was considered mutually exclusive with science. Time will tell, I suppose.

First time calling this out on Bluesky, but just felt both a 3.4 tremor followed by a 3.2 tremor that happened two minutes apart on the Hayward fault. Epicenter was, in fact, in Hayward. #earthquake earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/...

Didn't really watch the Super Bowl yesterday, but I did tune in at halftime to see Kdot 🔥 and caught some ads. An interesting tidbit I read regarding SB advertisement was the drop in celebrity endorsements. From 2020-2024 it steadily rose, peaking at 77% last year. This year it dropped back to 54%.

The event was from nearly a year ago (and the article from August of last year), but as we see Project 2025 going into full effect, should we doubt that this dismantling of our democracy wasn't planned or that it does not take inspiration from Nazi Germany?

Thiel said liberalism and democracy are "exhausted," and said, "We have to ask some questions very far outside the Overton window."

In a time of tragedy, what did Trump have to say?

“You have to be the highest intellect and psychologically superior.. Brilliant people have to be in those positions,” the president said, later saying diversity hiring “could have been” linked to the crash.

A reason this administration is particularly challenging is that there is an assault on science, logic, and decency on multiple fronts. This isn't to say that the answer to everything is contrapuntal to what they are proposing, but I don't think they're interested in thoughtful debate/discussion
RFK Jr. is far more than just an “anti-vaxxer.” Over the years, he’s made countless outrageous statements on a wide range of topics. We’ve compiled 10 of the wildest clips—though even that barely scratches the surface.

Insight on Elon that aligns with what many have seen with him over the years.

Tl;Dr - He's not so much a "white supremacist" or "eugenicist" as he is a "narcissist" who will align himself with whatever best suits his personal agenda (i.e., opportunistic racism).

There's an old anecdote, often referred to as "The Nazi Bar," which tells the story about how a bartender sees a person, otherwise circumspect, wearing something (insignia, old SS jacket, etc) and asks them to leave. The bartender asks that patron to leave. When asked why he kicked the paron out...

Created my first starter pack. I'm a fan of Bay Area sport teams (have been all my life), and Twitter was a way to keep up and discuss the games, players, etc. Here's a starter pack of some reporters, content creators, etc. who've made the jump to BlueSky. (a work in progress)

This being an actual Onion story, and not a story the Onion is running is all kinds of amazing
Hi everyone.

The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars.

We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website.

We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off.

I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.
The Onion Buys Alex Jones’s Infowars Out of Bankruptcy
The satirical news site planned to turn Infowars into a parody of itself, mocking “weird internet personalities” who peddle conspiracy theories and health supplements.
