I was invited to Cebu by @playgubatbanwa.bsky.social folk to speak on Mangayaw. It was my first time outside of Luzon, and the farthest I have been away from home. Yet I felt welcome at every juncture of my whirlwind of a 2 day adventure in Cebu.

Datu Mark Aguiman of the Manobo Kamigingnon said that culture cannot be preserved. Culture is lived and revitalized. After their talk, he asked me about what I do. I told him about Mangayaw. He took a brass bracelet from his wrist and put it on mine, explaining that part of him is now with me.
