In Chicago, a woman was driving to get coffee when a DHS vehicle fleeing an angry crowd crashed into her car. Armed agents jumped out of the vehicle, yanked her door open, pulled her by the legs out of her car at gunpoint, held her incommunicado for hours, then released her with no charges.
Aren't rural people the folks who depend more on mutual aid networks than urban people? And have to do things like each pay in together to get the road plowed? And maybe it's not likely, but it might not be impossible.
So she already didn't even know how the Democratic Party or the DSA work, nor that Mamdani is, in fact, a Democrat, and yet she gets her ignorant opinions printed. Great.
Sorry, I was speaking to my own experience, not some dude in Boston
My settings: Set time automatically? Y

My computer: O rly? LOL
Did they have CPAC in small-town Britain? There's really no other way 1000 child-rapists would have showed up
The fact that we're in a situation where this even has to be a suggestion is BS, and the fact that still, no reporter will probably do this is also BS. 4th wall my ass
I will venmo any reporter $400 to ask trump "what does SNAP stand for"
DSA isn't perfect, nor a political party, but the difference between how they act towards their members and towards their endorsed candidates versus how the Democratic party acts towards its members and candidates feels very different.
The Usha, JD Vance, and Erika Kirk thruple or whatever the hell is going on there is just such a "Everyone Sucks Here" situation.

it’s weird to see people be like “poor Usha” as if she is a guiltless victim with no agency, like she is a grown ass woman who chose and continues to choose to be with a horrible man

idk why we always need to infantilize the grown ass women married to horrible men

It doesn’t matter what I think. Also, none of this would ever happen. But if I had a zillion dollars:

1. Run a “we do hard things” campaign across southern and rust belt states. Invest heavily in local, state and regional social infrastructure. Sponser later hours at a library, build a skate park…
If I were to sum up my advice to the Democratic party leadership about how to defeat Trumpism, it would be to set aside policy for now and focus instead on articulating a vision of what American society should look like and what role the US should play in a rapidly changing world today.
Family size around the world is dropping. The conditions created by the obscenely wealthy that make parenthood difficult and thankless are triggering a population shift.

^ fixed it

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
He definitely seems...off. Like the kind of guy that seems quiet and clean-cut but you know you need to get out of the elevator when he steps in and nobody else is in it.
Yes, please! Put all those Dunning-Kruger lackey sycophants in charge of college football instead of, say, the FDA or whatever.
Yes, and this is the kind of response EVERY Dem should be giving, every time. Some version of "we're in the minority, why are you asking us if we can fix this? This is fully in the Republican's court"
Six months ago I wrote this post about “the next terrorist attack.” I republish it now (lightly updated) because my fear of this scenario has recently grown much greater.

And I cannot even get into how many people in our community are here because they or their parents or grandparents were being hunted and terrorized in Germany, Eastern Europe, Russia & the Soviet Union.

They know what this is. They know it's happening here.

This grinning skull with a very fancy hat is called "La Calavera Catrina."

The term means something like: "The dapper skull" & the image is strongly associated with Dia de los Muertos celebrations.

She has something to teach the "No Kings" movement of today.

JD Vance claims that diversity weakens unions, as people end up distrusting each other and not organizing.

Let me tell you two menswear stories related to this claim. 🧵
Happy Dia de los Muertos!

May my ancestors rest in peace, except the ones who were asshole colonizers and slave owners; may they be restless ghosts or reincarnated as dung beetles or whatever

Criminalizing homelessness DOES NOT WORK. We've been here before. We already have a tremendous backlog of cases here, and we do not have enough public defenders to process those cases. It's also far cheaper to house people and give them beds in rehab than it is to put them in jail.
DA demands ‘some accountability with our compassion’ as Portland camping ban begins
Multnomah County District Attorney Nathan Vasquez says criminal charges, however, likely won’t be widespread.

I am certainly seeing how my original response was calling out the culture that allows a very few people to have extreme, obscene wealth and your comment usurped that into a discussion on affordable housing.

Wealth inequality is extreme and housing costs are but one symptom of this.
