Federal Secret Police and plainclothes ICE agents kidnap multiple people from a neighborhood in Chicago. They then deploy teargas and brutally beat neighbors who come out to express their concern.

I don't know how to get people outside Chicago & environs to understand what is happening here, but this thread captures the bleakness. It's happening in every corner of the city. The videos you see are only a fraction of the daily raids. Even those not at risk are aware of their own vulnerability.

Rogers Park and surrounding neighborhoods were hit hard by immigration enforcement activity over the weekend.

There's no competition here, but I want to name that the same heavy, violent, fast-moving abduction pattern has invaded the southwest side about three times a week for over a month now.

I think it's best to show solidarity across the city and suburbs (finally) and just assume everyone at risk has had a nightmare of a month and every community, regardless of demographics, has been traumatized and changed.

At this point, there is a statement from DHS re 🧊 activities in the Chicago area that’s refuted in similar fashion on nearly a daily basis at a minimum over the past week

Despite what some, including at DHS, are claiming, this video isn’t from a year ago in Chicago. It was Friday in Hoffman Estates, in my district, a street I’ve walked myself. It appears to show a child being violently detained by ICE. It’s real, and I’m demanding accountability.

My sense is this works like internalized misogyny, homophobia, or racism. The disconnect between observable reality and deeply ingrained beliefs that allow people to justify their behavior, make them feel superior, and scapegoat the vulnerable is a feature, not a bug.

There are a lot of people here who still don't know what is going on. Today someone I spoke with was shocked and infuriated to learn about the Evanston Home Depot raid. "I don't understand. Why are they here? I thought they were in the city where the gangs are? There is no violent crime here."

There is an endless supply of ICE. I think he is between a rock and a hard place. He clearly condemns this regime. I don't think he is a fake. OTOH, the state police are collaborators. It's def giving Petain for me. But the alternative is a line I think most people do not want to cross today.

The state troopers are arresting protesters.

It's a weird situation where the federal government argued they needed to send in the National Guard to defend ICE & Border Patrol, so the state sent in troopers to do that to prove to a judge there was no need for the NG. Real deal with the devil.

It’s been said but it bears repeating: in addition to the people being abducted, all Chicagoans are being psychologically terrorized. Seeing feds driving/walking around and videos of violent attacks in places you know and love will fuck you up. Get ready, it’s coming to all of America soon.

Multiple people have been detained. This is an ongoing operation.
