Increasingly find the Black Friday discourse grating. Obviously, one should support artists and artisans and small businesses. But I suspect most people are not choosing between electronics or clothes and a $100 bespoke handmade candle.

It is almost that time of year again, the annual fashion history advent calendar looms & this year I shall use each day to tell a different imaginary story. Last year this #1810s skater provided the perfect tableau for a tale. Keep your eyes peeled! #FIDMMuseum #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

Are we still doing relish tray discourse?
Happy Thanksgiving, dear US pals! I am up north where it's just another November Thursday, but thankfully my husband got to go visit his fam. I'm eagerly awaiting photos of the big pickle.

Was thinking about this earlier today. I am so thankful to live among the fine people of Chicago and Evanston who have been so courageous, organized, creative, wise, and generous and who have really shown the world our very best side these past few months.
Thankful for all those who have shown up in community defense in so many different ways. Nothing has been as heartening as seeing brave souls put their bodies on the line at Broadview & in the streets, with watchers on so many street corners & eyes on the skies. Y’all are the real ones.

Happy Thanksgiving—from Alexander Voloshin and me—to all immigrants acquiring new tastes this year! No one knows better the importance of celebrating despite it all.

How my grandmother, who only learned a few words of English, loved “Turkey Day”…

Happy Thanksgiving, compatriots! I miss my days of travelling over the river and through the woods, but I'm thankful for my boy and dog, the parade, the turkey & trimmings, green bean casserole specifically, pumpkin pie, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and the official start of the Christmas season❣️

Not officially Thanksgiving until I see this:

I'm being extremely petty, but I hope it really pisses off these ICE mfers that the Macy's Parade has featured a Mexican circus, Cuban musical, Panamanian marching band, Brazilian singer, and other Latin American performers in like the first hour alone. Hope it ruins their day.

More Discover ads have aired on Netflix tonight than aired on over the air TV in the entire year of 1987 probably.

I'm not saying it's pleasant to be out in, but the weather has been spectacular today. Icy tornadic winds, dark wintry blue grey skies, hysterical flurries, neon magenta sunset. Pulling out all the stops.

I have a bit of a soft spot for the NG after volunteering alongside them during a natural disaster. But I don't think these folks died in service to their country, and that is a dig at the politicians who sent them there, not at those who died.

Worried this wind will fuck up the parade tomorrow.

Jesus christ neighbor's balcony railing planters just flew off and landed on ours and on top of the pool!

Secure your balcony shit, Chicago! Someone's gonna get hurt.

This wind is wild. Sounds like a fog horn and someone revving their engine.

Started Death By Lightning. Works well after having watched the 12 hour documentary about the American Revolution, and at least the first episode is like crack for us electoral politics fiends. Not sure why there was a Grand Pacific Hotel in Chicago though.

I didn't get pics because I thought I had some old ones on my phone and now I can't find them but the huge HOPE and JOY signs made of fairy lights are back up in the alley of the 600 block of Sherman. One of my favorite things in the neighborhood. Like something from an expressionist film.

My only controversial opinion about pies is that I get triggered seeing what the British call a pie on Bake Off.

I prefer pumpkin or French silk pie. Want to try a chess pie. Pecan pie is fine if made well. Fruit pie should have a lattice or other artistic covering, but fruit cobbler is superior.
