The rotors, first used in 1925 on a journey to Scotland, are being revived to help emissions in shipping.

Glasgow’s Corbusian Met Tower looking decidedly worse for wear these days. Designed by architect Peter Williams of Wyllie, Shanks, and Underwood in 1961 (completed in 64), it was originally the Glasgow College of Building (and later also Printing), and eventually the City of Glasgow College. The school relocated in 2016, and it’s been empty ever since. It was going to be converted into an office and science tech hub thing, but that idea fell through when the market for office space died after COVID. Now sits derelict waiting for a new idea. It’s heritage-listed so hopefully will be preserved and re-used (likely as apartments - although the market for those in Glasgow isn’t exactly on fire, either).

Some are worried that the rapid rise in the value of AI tech companies may be a bubble waiting to burst.
