Here’s a rarity in the Roman world: a mosaic portrait. Made of extremely small tesserae - opus vermiculatum - it depicts a staid young woman, almost matronly. Her dark hair is parted in the middle and we can see a complicated braided bun at the back of her head, since this image is in 3/4 view. She’s wearing a pearl necklace, and pearl and gold earrings, identifying this as from the Julio-Claudian period. She was found in the floor of a cubiculum (bedroom) of the Casa della Matrona Ignota, Pompeii. Julian-Claudian era (27 BC - 68 CE). Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Napoli (MANN inv. 124666)

Outside there is snow & ice, the moon shining. I have learned to love this cold. But still I miss Summer. Being naked in sub-freezing temp is not as enjoyable. A good way to refresh for a moment. But that is all! Moonlight shining off snowflakes is beautiful anyways & that I can enjoy the cold for.

Trees & boulders are the healing gentle giants.

I tested it many times & pressing my body against a tree or boulder was lowering my heart 15 to 30 bpm within 9 to 12 breaths. Meanwhile just stopping to rest only was reducing this 4 to 10 bpm within the same number of breaths.
