As someone who did have an abusive childhood, I agree with you. It actually contributed to adulthood feeling even more stunted.

I had to take on all the emotional and mental maturity far too early, but then I didn't even get any of the usual adulthood milestones.

I've always hated the "They must have been on drugs when they made this" response to any kind of weird or unusual art.

But there's a new phrase I hate more. "Where's the Sora watermark? This can't be real!"

It's the worst way to erase human creativity and weirdness.

Watching When A Stranger Calls (1979) and when she drinks the parents' liquor, I thought "I hope they don't have a nanny cam."

I had to pause the movie to be impressed with how stupid that thought was. It also makes me yearn for when we didn't constantly worry about being filmed.

You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you. While I'll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say. And don't worry about me quittin' the business because God hasn't said anything about stopping yet. It also includes your own work that you don't have to do for someone else, but are purely putting out into the world on your own terms. You need to take breaks and make time for yourself. It's often the reason you go from liking it to loathing it.
