Absolutely! That PC had God-given powers, so the journal helped give them ideas to mess with my PC's inner turmoil via visions and such.

I did this for my first-ever AP and shared it with my DM. It helped with his notes and allowed them to create ways to mess with my character. It was so fun!
I've also written letters in character for a regency-period game.
