Neither party will survive this. Republicans because they sold their souls for power, and Democrats because they lost to a known sexual predator *twice* and still fail to address their classism. If we're lucky what we get will be AOC and Mamdani type on one side and Kinsinger type on the other.

Literally every congressman is up for re-election. This might actually be one of those things we agree on; sex traffickers need to be brought to justice. You know the statistics. She might have known someone affected by CSA.

This plan has multiple steps. The first step is to get the authoritarian out of power. Nothing else will matter if that doesn't happen. You can't put political pressure on tyranny, it's specifically set up to avoid that.

They are like this in nursing, too. They bank on your lack of power to short staff constantly, sending people home unpaid when census is low, and doing mandatory overtime rather than increasing staffing.

I think the bigger problem is they aren't sure how they will survive if they don't get their back pay. There are loans through some credit unions, but with no backpay they can't be paid back.

They have to be fed up enough not to care about paying rent anymore, or convinced that they won't get paid.

Ah yes, air traffic controllers must show up for work without pay, but Congress can take the day off. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says he’ll be making “necessary cuts” to the department, because nothing fixes staffing shortages quite like firing more people.

Yeah, the conservative estimates on the first one were *five million people*. Give one dollar to half of those people, it would leave a money trail that someone would be able to find, probably without too much difficulty. And no way they all keep it to themselves.

Can we sue them? The constituents, I mean. Is there any law we can use to argue that they are defrauding us by refusing to fulfill their duties as elected officials? Because we need to start thinking about what to do if they refuse to reopen government forever.

There are no press releases during the shutdown, making it difficult to find this kind of news.
But the AK Air/Army National Guards, and the USCG, are conducting SAR operations. The flooding is in remote areas, and affecting primarily small villages, it appears.
