my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

I also haven’t, but have worked with people who worked in CAVE labs during school (jealous).

I think VR…they seem to have always been empty holodecks, not actual rooms-for-living-in.

@genmon.fyi +100 for room-scale computing with an eye towards shared experiences. (MultiUX?)

We bought a *pair* of Vision Pros out of excitement for these possibilities and got…almost nothing.

No self-respecting reporter or news organization should misinform the public by referring to government agencies and officials by their pretend names and titles to humor, placate or curry favor with those in power.

This footnote to Illinois and Chicago's lawsuit against Trump is an important reminder:

* There is no Department of War or Secretary of War, which are make-believe names for the actual agencies created by Congress.

Having to share Amsterdam bike paths with these motorcycles-pretending-to-be-bicycles going way too fast for everyone’s safety, I welcome bollards on the paths. And especially the hero bollard in this video.

*of*, I mean _of_ these grey areas 😆

I yearn for more discourse in these grey areas.

Mr Laos. Just when you though this year was a bit quiet on the insanely huge, bedazzled, symbolic costumes along comes Mr Laos and blows everyone else out of the water. This is insane, but it's also *so* good.

The function of the hallway is to prepare us. "It is where you build the strength and gather the wisdom needed to enter the next room not as a guest, but as its rightful inhabitant." This becoming takes time, and that is not only acceptable, it is necessary.

I want another layer of area management on very big displays. Let me move Mac Plus scale “desktops” around, keeping one centered for focus but the others fully visible.

There is a growing body of research into LLM self-awareness but I am particularly fascinated by the “evaluation awareness” research by Anthropic into the Hawthorne effect in LLMs. (h/t to @futureshape.bsky.social for the connection) nitter.net/Jack_W_Linds...

if it starts lying during a session i just end the session, it's not worth it, and this shit leaks into subsequent attempts. start the next section in a comforting way by letting it focus on a smaller part

And I am meat. I hope you can appreciate my moral salience nonetheless.

(It is a shame we don’t have a better word than “bigot” for “emotionally dismisses things they don’t recognize as like themselves” though.)

I'm not clear, yet, on whether the feed format has advantages over a less linear shared journal.
