Unfortunately, this doesn’t always work. My two recent high-profile AV projects followed all the steps you mentioned, yet one finished a year late, and the other ended in a terminated contract. In both cases, we, the users, were most affected. Will never use either integrator ever again!

Beyond the obvious “pay them” solution, we need to welcome new talent. The AV industry is starved for fresh faces—it’s the same people at every show, every panel. Crisis management is now a core part of AV installs, especially post-supply chain gate. Every project needs Plans B, C, D—and an “oh crap” plan. Contingency planning isn’t a backup; it’s the plan. Flexibility and quick pivots are the new normal. “You play to win the game”.

I’ve had a very recent experience… my dads Tiguan has a “touchless” entertainment console and if often find myself waving at the screen… it’s not all lost the neighbor waved back the other day so that was nice.
