Excellent column from Sonia Sohda:

"It’s both extraordinary and embarrassing that so many so-called progressive grown-ups have been duped into thinking this childish and parochial campaign is some sort of brave liberation struggle."

it's in the way that both Frankfurtian bullshit and AI hallucination jettison any relationship to the truth that I find the resonance. It's in the exclusion of truth from consideration that I find the similarity.

this book has never been more relevant or useful, between AI and the current state of politics.
AI doesn't "hallucinate", it bullshits.

Carole Cadwalladr was right and we’d be in a better world if more people had listened.

This tweet has been doing the rounds on Twitter now that Nathan Gill has pleaded guilty.

If only someone had tried to investigate UKIP & Russian interference 🧐

There’s another timeline where the Guardian supported me, doubled down on the investigation & I look 5 years younger ..

I find this very touching…& also worrying. Historian @timothysnyder.bsky.social has been an absolutely essential guide to this era. And if he thinks I’m right then we’re in more trouble than we realise

My colleagues & I have taken a huge gamble to set up @thenerve.news We’re trying to build a new independent publication from the ground up. Social media is our only distribution for now.

Sharing this article in your networks would make a huge difference. Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏

NEW: The British politician, his Russian intelligence handler & a Kremlin plot against the US & Ukraine.

My new piece about Nathan Gill and Nigel Farage for @thenerve_news in which we ask:

Why, even now, is no-one asking questions?

oh I can totally see how it is important. Like i said i started reading it but have also read the summary on wikipedia. I didn't know that she was a pioneer in uncovering such gendered assumptions.
I just found the New Statesmen piece confusing but perhaps it'll be clearer when i've read more.

i have found much to agree with in the reflective essay - also "A thin interpretation of democracy homogenizes differences in the name of equality, whereas thick democracy rests on the premise that different voices are integral to the vitality of a democratic society."

I've started reading it, yes, thank you. In looking for it I ended up reading her recent reflection on it - classics-at.chs.harvard.edu/classics9-ca...
"Within a patriarchal framework, care is a feminine ethic. Within a democratic framework, care is a human ethic."

Great article about the German Spaßguerillas - 'fun-fighters"

the text read:
Koroit opals are a unique type of boulder opal found only in a remote part of Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺, near the tiny outback town of Koroit. They form inside ironstone rock, deep in the ground, where mineral-rich water once flowed through ancient cracks and cavities.

Maria may only be paid $70, but I don't think describing pay in terms of "earnings" makes sense any more. She contributes far more than people "earning" 10x what she does.
I know you understand this, it's just sometime the language we use in describing injustice kind of grates.

So many called those of us who were screaming about Project 2025, conspiracy theorists. Said we were fear mongering.
Well, well, well, I wonder how many of those people will be at NO KINGS PROTEST on October 18⁉️⁉️

Clear evidence that Supreme Court clarification on sex in Equality Act did not stop trans people challenging experiences of harassment & discrimination. Trans identifying men can actually be protected under sex category *and* gender reassignment category.

Women *needed* sex category clarification!

so I'm pretty sure that they had different dads, and Biscuit's must've been a Bengal or Bengal mix or something. He hardly sleeps, is full of energy and curiosity, is deeply and almost weirdly attached to me. Does make funny noises eating sometimes, and also when doing many other things.
