"Hi! Your kid’s school here again. Just confirming the snack choice for the Halloween party to check that it meets our guidelines. Oh, your husband is the volunteer? I do see that on the form, but thought that must be an error or a joke. I can just write your name in."
There's a part of me that envies my colleagues who will chase down the no-show, leave AMA people to make sure that they are getting the care they need but I have always had the sense that adults need to take some responsibility for their own care and if they want to leave AMA, so be it.
Here is Tuft's University saying the same thing. It is a myth and the only people who need to be consuming large amounts of fluids are people with kidney stones (which is maybe why it was a urologist saying it
Our bodies have evolved to alter our urine concentration to account for variations in water intake. It’s a very elegant system that works really well abs doesn’t require 2L of intake to function properly.
There is absolutely no research that proves that 2L of intake is necessary but it is about the single most common recommendation you see on every “health” website. It’s basically harmless (for most) and makes people feel like they are doing something good for themselves.
That’s not true. There was a Dept of agriculture document that was released in the 50s saying that we need that much a day for metabolic processes but much of that comes from our own metabolism. The amount we actually need is between 500mls to a liter a day depending on how well your ADH works.
This is idiotic obviously but it has to be said that the modern obsession with "hydration" is almost as idiotic. There is absolutely no evidence that most people need to drink unless they are thirsty.
Oh my God, I only saw the first part of the post at first and thought... why? I managed to stop after about the third one because they really weren't worth it. But I admire the perseverance.
I don’t even understand what the question is here or what she is implying? I encourage people to get a second opinion if they are unsure. And if they want to switch their care that is their right.
Same thing happened to the Red Sox after the WC games. They won the first away and everyone was - they are back!. They lose the next two and it was as if they had achieved nothing. And the Yankees were 100% back until they lost to the Blue Jays. Now they are a disaster. It's really hard to win
My sense is that all of this is driven by Russel Voight's desire to move all education-related activities to the states. If there is no federal oversight, then the states are free to do what they want and he is a small fed libertarian for whom any and all central destruction is justified.
I wonder what kind of odds you could have gotten that after 6 games of the season the Patriots would be ranked above Baltimore, Cincinnati and Kansas City? Absolute madness.
My 11 year old inherited a few thousand dollars this year. She hasn’t gotten it yet but I told her that it was hers to use. She said that she didn’t want it because she knew she would be irresponsible so that I should put it away. I was both surprised and proud. Don’t think I was that sensible at 11
Early COVID absolutely but that’s also when it turned sour as mis- and disinformation proliferated. At the beginning I used to try and communicate with people but very quickly it became obvious that it was pointless.
They bloody can (or at least the yearly reups for the hospital do) by stopping progress every time you click out of a window. Requires a whole separate laptop working in the background.
