When I was growing up autistic kids were "hyper" or "had water on the brain" and there was always a raft of "weird kids" who were socially ostracized because they had a hard time people-ing. If you don't think autism existed before it was commonly called "autism," it's because you chose not to see.

My dad truly believed that people just didn't have autism when he was growing up and I had to be the one to break it to him that autistic people who didn't fit in WERE PUT INTO INSTITUTIONS

You’ll probably see this screenshot floating around a lot but it really was wonderful to see Lynch put a scene in Twin Peaks: The Return where he has his character literally stare at the camera and say that you should either support trans people or die. I needed to hear that in 2017

and recently with the quin dilemma, seeing him properly be forgiven and having them both move on from it, instead of him forever being demonized, means the world to me.

between autism, adhd, and other matters i wish not to make public, i have engaged in behaviors such as his, and even some of his moments with peri all gave me a wake up call, and are even a reason i began researching mental health and psychology.

even from his first episode, the strangulation of peri, as much as obviously it’s horrifying, i watched with surprise and horror, which slowly turned to me wondering if he was like me, perhaps a little more than the other doctors.

a paranoid fit, a violent outburst, learning once again who you are.
