One of my pet peeves is when cishet men start going: "Men are trash! Kill all men! All men suck (except for me, of course. Right, ladies?)" I know a lot of the time this comes from a good place (acknowledging privilege etc) but I can't help but see it as being incredible creepy

Despite everything, I'm heartened by how driven I am to finish this book. I'm normally pretty driven with all my writing projects, but this one has caught me in a way nothing has since the original Gallaetha trilogy. It's good to know I don't just have one set of books in me

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

So many people worked so hard on MeToo and in less than a decade the institutions are rolling everything it achieved back.

I've been noticing that every time I row or use the stairmonster at the gym there's a milky white residue left behind on the handle bars. I looked it up and apparently it's my hand sweat being extra salty, can't figure out why or if it's a good thing or not. I'm probably dying
