Man, lost an hour debugging Flask suddenly losing the ability to use its request object.

Important safety tip, when you're pulling in code from a sample that's using a typical request/response paradigm... `request = foo` will indeed, kill Flask.

*sigh*

At least I figured it out before midnight?

I feel like I want an online setting (for any chat app really, but I'm specifically thinking about #Steam):

"Appear offline except to this group"

Basically, I want to be able to look invisible for almost everyone, but a select group of folks I'm okay if they see my status...

The new kitty has decided he wants to be a #Christmas ornament. Normally wouldn't care, but we have integrated LED lights that he wanted to be chewing on...

Finally couldn't avoid a #Windows11 update. Removed being able to move the Taskbar? That's...awful. Either I now have a taskbar floatin around at the bottom of my game, or I hide it, and I accidentally touch the bottom of the screen and up it pops... or... win+shift+<- every time. Not awesome.

Okay friends. Lay it on me. Who on here are the awesome data folks? Databases, analytics, data science and engineering. Who should I be following?

Did something happen to Bluesky to make it easier to find people? I’ve been getting a rash of followers here. Or are people just that fed up with X now?

I cannot stress enough how important it is, if you're providing an API that gives access into a data set, DOCUMENT THE DATA SET. If there are legacy fields in the data that aren't being used anymore, document that.

We may look nice 'n' polished in the final video, but often it takes a village, and sometimes, the wheels fall off the cart. A quick peek into one of the many snafus that can happen on the set as we create our videos.

It doesn’t surprise me that Meta is creating a Twitter clone. The instant Musk talked about buying Twitter I’m sure that’s when development started. But the fact that it’s not going to be available in the EU… tells me there are privacy issues. I will not be trying it out until that’s fixed. If then.

For those of you (probably not that many) that are pulling an old #RaspberryPi off the shelf and are planning on running any of the #Python #GoogleCloud APIs on it, upgrade the OS to Bullseye first. The APIs are compiled with glibc 2.29 and Buster only has 2.28.

I stopped reading for a pretty long time. I used to be an avid reader, but life got in the way, I had other hobbies that took over. Recently I've been reading a lot again. Discovering the number of eLibrary Cards you can get free, and using the Libby app. *chefskiss*

Hi Bluesky! I’m here to be a little irreverent, potentially a little political on occasion, but mostly to talk #technology, #databases, #IoT, and a smattering of random factoids. Cause who doesn’t love factoids?!
