People seem to remember melina as some weird girl who shows up sometimes then dies for you, or wants to kill you. But I bet if she had a boss fight, players would be far more interested in her (assuming they are sexist pricks like some ER fans).

Gehrman stuck with players because he gets out of his wheelchair to kick our asses. Not because he is just that weird old guy in BB who shows up at the start and sometimes in the backyard.

So it is frustrating when he gets merchandise instead of Melina who you actively have to go out of your way to avoid.

And blah blah blah Melina no screentime and all that but Vyke has probably 5 minutes if you don't keep dying to him. All his character is in items.

Yes. You could beat the game without using flasks, riding torrent, leveling up, going to the roundtable, etc.

But those are core gameplay functions that Melina is responsible for providing to the player. Not side optional content like Ranni's quest or Vyke's two npc battles.

Are you forgetting the fact she has to burn to get us inside the Erdtree...? And her sending us to go grab the Rune of Death to kill her mom (and dad)?

I could go on about stuff she helps us with that, unless you are a masochist, are imperative to playing the game.

Arguably the most important character in the player's personal story. And they pretend she is a missable npc.

The Tarnished would literally be unable to progress through the game without Melina (no glitches do not count).

This is like one thing I am vehemently confused at as well because other times I’m not *as* bothered, Melina is one of the most prominent faces in the entirety of the game and trailers (fact: hovering over Elden Ring in the PS5 menu shows Melina in her cloak) so like… bro??? Where is she????
