Today in 1961, former Manhattan Project Nobel Prize-winning chemist, Atomic Energy Commission member, and fallout shelter advocate Willard Libby’s highly-publicized, do-it-yourself $30 hillside shelter—made out of railroad ties and sandbags of dirt—burned down in the Bel Air wildfire in Los Angeles.

Pix is wildly popular in Brazil 📈

it’s a free, inclusive, publicly-owned digital payment system… and it’s quickly become the most common payment method in 🇧🇷

but it cuts out US corporations — so now the US govt is trying to get it taken down.

this is what capitalist imperialism looks like:

Adding the 2016 votes might make the pattern a little clearer. The ex-2016 UKIP vote appears to have been split between Labour and Tory in 2021. These people may have now swapped to Reform, taking a few more 2021 Tory & Labour voters with them - with other 2021 Labour voters moving to Plaid. ???

Because of the large number of non-voters, it's very difficult to be sure over who swapped votes, and to where, or did and didn't vote who previously did or didn't. #Caerphilly #byelection #Plaid #Labour

Off to visit my native terrain, to practice the Manc Walk. Not needed to do it for a few years, so am a bit rusty. I'm sure I'll pick it up again in no time - like riding a bike.

A profitable pharmaceutical company received £3.4bn tax cut from a UK tax incentive scheme.

The drug wasn't available to the NHS for several years.

Big pharma wants to hike drug prices.

£3.4bn would drastically cut child poverty... but ... but ... there is no money for that.
Over half of £2 billion UK tax break goes to just ten companies...
Previously undisclosed figures show that a single large pharmaceutical company has received a £3.4 billion tax cut - including £486 million in 2024 alone - from a little-scrutinised tax incentive supp...

Tally of the ani-DigitalID petition is 2,847,401 now signatures. According to the 3.5% Rule, that should be enough to affect political outcomes - as it represents 4.1% of the UK population. Whether the 3.5% rule still applies to “clicktivism”, as opposed to "meatspace" activism I don’t really know.
The '3.5% rule': How a small minority can change the world
Nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts – and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change.
