If you're gonna take away anything from my devlogs: know that there's always more you can do to improve your situation.

I could whine and complain about how much easier the 2010's were for indies, and how bad the algorithm is. Or I can change tactics and get shit done.
New vid is lagging behind all the others. I posted all the prior ones on various subreddits, but I'm unsure where to post this one.

Might have to diversify my uploading. Maybe drop some gameplay videos I can post on RPGMaker, SMT, and LISA. That could be what I'm missing.
Another big re-design. I was never one of those edgy, Happy Tree Friends goreslop kids. But I guess it's just the natural end result of making any kind of cartoony adult thing.

Thanks. It's just kind of this hodge-podge of various Newgrounds/Flipnote stuff that cemented itself in my brain as a kid.
Last week before a video drop is basically a scramble to get presentable footage out, and that's largely gonna be my MO this week.
Devlog 4 is done outside of the PW clips.

Gonna spend the next week getting footage-worthy work done, and then I'll release the video on the 22nd-23rd.
The whole vibe was initially gonna be "crowded and overstimulating" hence the nutsack texture and brick floor.

But that would be like pushing a kidney stone without some Monster Update tier team at my back.
Trying to make tilesets look good is a pain, this is gonna be a pain.

But it already looks better now that I've removed the nutsack texture on the white buildings.
I have a massive headache from headbutting a wall yesterday. I'm gonna take it easy for a bit. Sorry if updates slow down.

Silver lining: got an animation done today.
I don't keep track of what I do each week, and need to remember shit off the dome.

I tried keeping an internal log. But I forgot about that too and stopped writing in it.
- New Monster (its name is Psychic Vampire)
- 3 skill anims
- Devlog 4 editing
- Devlog 5 script on first draft

Outside of that, it's mostly just playtesting stuff that doesn't show off well on social media posts.

Last playtester was really on me about spellchecking. Found a pretty blatant misspelling of "injuries" as "injures" and he went like

"Treat his injures? What? Does he remember my genocides?"
A playtester made the first Pedestrian Wolves "meme!"

Make sure to share with your Friends.

Hot tip for anyone wanting to draw cars: make a rectangle in perspective, and then carve out the vague shape.

It might look weird at first. But shading will help you further define the shape with detailed curves and how the light bends around the car.
- 5 Anims done this week, working on a 6th
- More playtesting and fixes
- Work on Devlog 4

Weird feeling being able to do a full rotation of a car. Early on in art this shit is like black magic. But nowadays it doesn't phase me

Got off my ass and did the last demo anim. Meaning that, aside from the music: all the polish is done.

I still don't have a strong idea of a release date, because this is as much of a marketing thing as it is a "for fun" thing.

Maybe I'll release a no-music ver to garner hype.
Something I like to do with my game is go a bit off-model. Either by mistake, or intentionally if a sketch looks charmingly odd.

I think it lends the game a more "hand-drawn" feel. Like what you'd get in a manga.
New enemies this week, plus some writing done for their related side-quests.

Thanks! This is what they mean by "weaponized hyperfixation." It's all the insight of the guy who can't shut up, but condensed into 5 minutes.

I hope me doing this can shift people more towards making shorter videos meant to be watched instead of multi-hour long rants to be fallen asleep to.
Oh yeah. Fun thing about the cold opens: the audience falls off the face of the Earth the exact moment the guy screams in them.

It's probably a normal thing with viewer retention in the first seconds, but I like to internalize it like a hazing ritual.
Initially, I wanted to go for the route of "performative freakout" with the first thumbnail. And you can see that carry over to the early cold opens/thumbnails

But I'm more patient with how I'm doing this, in addition to me running out of footage of guys screaming for cold opens
Last video, I stole the look of Spirit Phone for no real reason other than I wanted to get Stirner's head next to Osaa and give them lens flare eyes.

I'm probably gonna go with the "distance" motif a lot more for the sake of cohesive branding.
