Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #character. This male Common Kingfisher alternated between showing off or ignoring me while I sat in a canvas hide (blind) a few feet away. Sometimes it would fish from the roof of the hide.

I have started wearing a mask with headphones in so i can listen to books which is fine unless I'm too engaged with the storyline. I just can't switch off!

Went with this young Great Spotted Woodpecker that I was playing peekaboo with

a woodpecker with black and white head and a vivid red patch under its tail. It is sat upright against a tree facing the camera, so the red patch is very visible

the side of the head of the woodpecker is all that is visible as it pokes out around the side of the tree trunk its eye focussed on me

the woodpecker now on the other side of the tree, its claws clinging on to the bark of the tree, its head turned to one side as it stares me down
