He’s tanking the economy, destroying our standing in the world, depriving women and LGBTQ communities of their fundamental rights, attacking the environment, disappearing legal immigrants, gutting Veteran’s benefits and Social Security. And he’s making you pay for his golf trips while he’s at it.

I only wrote this substack *yesterday* about the dangers of being a foreign student or academic in the US, but I am already having to update it as more disappearances and visa revocations happen.

If you still support Trump after this, you’ve no fecking soul. Shame on you and shame on that excuse of a human being inhabiting the White House.
Mayor Bibb's statement on the Trump Administration’s decision to withhold food aid from the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
If you can, please consider supporting the Greater Cleveland Food Bank to help families facing food insecurity. Every contribution makes a difference.

What does the #SpringStatement mean for you?
The Chancellor’s announcements have major implications for social security, economic growth, and public spending. But what do the changes really mean - especially for people in Glasgow, and for Scotland's third sector?

Cuts to Carers Allowance are part of the #DisabilityBenefits cuts. I now really want to see how @uklabour.bsky.social Scottish MPs respond - if at all.

1/3 Like many of our members, we are dismayed at the planned cuts to social security. These changes will have a devastating effect on people in #Glasgow. This is borne out by the Government’s own impact assessment, which shows more people – including children – will be pushed into absolute poverty.

3/3 In December, we called for a benefits system, that is sufficient, compassionate and which enables people to work where they can – but which also offers a good quality of life for those who can’t. Today’s announcements feel like a step away from, instead of towards, that vision.

2/3 These changes will hinder the city's ambition to reduce child poverty. Our sector will inevitably face increased demand for information and crisis support from individuals and families. This will happen at a time when the #ThirdSector already faces financial challenges.

Damn Carney really getting the digs in at Poilievre, calling him a career politician who has never put together a payroll and has never worked in the private sector, saying he'd "let the world burn"
I bet Poilievre is very unhappy tonight lmao

Are you listening Keir Starmer?
NEW: Canada’s new PM, Mark Carney, has just delivered what sounded like a wartime speech, savaging Trump & the US.
"These are dark days brought on by a country we can no longer trust. We are getting over the shock, but let us never forget the lessons. We have to look after ourselves."💥

If the US had continued to support Ukraine, we may have been months away from the end of the war. The Russians would not have been able to continue to fight for much longer. They were making almost no progress, taking huge casualties.

There is no question that deep welfare cuts from @uklabourparty.bsky.social will be both devastating and economically counterproductive. Look at the impact of austerity over the last 14 years.
More austerity = more health/social damage = less productivity & more unable to work.
