I’d really prefer if you would be quiet
Even if you're conservative and want lower taxes or whatever it's insane to imagine anyone looking at the federal government and being filled with optimism
"How do you feel towards the federal government in Washington?"

Anger: 28%
Pessimism: 20%

Optimism: 20%
Satisfaction: 10%

Disinterest: 8%

The contrast between what Kirk publicly said and believed in vs what outlets and the public deem acceptable to remark about him is wild. Kirk passionately, repeatedly, publicly argued that innocent deaths were "unfortunate" but worth it to keep the 2A, yet mentioning this is deemed uncivil/rude
The tug-of-war about what Kirk would have wanted is ongoing. In life, Kirk thought this episode was funny and changed his avatar to Cartman. But the Ellison-owned Paramount is now deleting it.

It would be great if democratic leadership didn’t openly support Trump and his agenda
Asked how he'd fight Trump's plans to send National Guard to Chicago, Hakeem Jeffries replies: "I support the Chicago police department."

"These are men and women who have taken an oath to protect and serve these communities, and they do a great job of that."

It’s difficult to put into words how little I care about forcing billionaires to sell assets to pay their taxes
Taxing unrealized capital gains destroys investment. People have to sell their assets to pay it, reducing capital available for investment and the incentive to invest.

Trump has only taken equity or a “commission” when the company benefited from government actions. Doesn’t impact investment
Do you think that there are any structural differences between the US government owning equity in the biggest corporations vs. taxing unrealized capital gains? Does one incentivize investment more than others?

Political parties in Europe will call themselves something like the “Conservative Traditionalist Party” and you look them up and they support mixed-market socialism

“Purity tests” are often criticized on here but personally I think Newsom ratfucking his base on universal healthcare should be an instant disqualifier. The 2028 Dem nominee can’t afford to fight republicans AND their own base, they won’t win

In order for guys like Yglesias to maintain their facade as some sort of high-brow intellectual, I think they should be made to reconcile with their (very long) list of takes that turned out to be wildly incorrect, like the belief that John Fetterman would become the face of the party

Love the idea that corporate tax cuts of any kind are a “bottom up incentive” lmao
Want to use rich people like me to your advantage? Incent us to help those who need it the most. Lower corp taxes for comps that pay a min of $25 per hour. Lower corp taxes if employees get stock at the same pct as the CEO.

Bottom up incentives work. Dems never innovate. They bitch

Splitting “republicans” and “maga republicans” into two separate categories only to get near identical results from each is the most MSM thing ever. Still trying to help the GOP whitewash its image and failing because they are the same lol

I genuinely just don’t think this type of candidate can beat JD Vance. You need overwhelming energy, which this isn’t
Governor Andy Beshear wants to run for president but then says this to Vogue with respect to publicly disagreeing with the Israeli government.

He clearly doesn’t understand how much the electorate (on both sides) has shifted on this matter in the past two years.

If Dems lose the midterms it’s their own fault. They’ve been handed every opportunity to outflank conservatives on a silver platter and so far their response has been “Actually, we’ll prove we are MORE conservative than the GOP!”
I predict that there will be a lot of attempted fuckery with the midterms, either overt attempts to change vote counts or a refusal to accept results and swear in new members

If you watch on the street interviews, it’s abundantly clear that people voted for Cuomo because of “vibes and feels.” It was all people who vaguely knew he was governor and thought he had mayor vibes. Meanwhile every Zohran supporter cited specific policies.
lol they took the bait

The replies to this on Twitter are literally people just repeating the tweets he’s making fun of lol. I know a lot of blue checks are rage bait accounts but I also think many conservatives are just unfathomably stupid
Good morning! I'm in Uganda to visit family and friends.

But depending on your perspective, don't worry or I'm sorry: I'll be back by the end of the month.

See you soon, NYC.

We should not be funding iron dome either. Israel needs to learn how to work with and get along with their neighbors instead of throwing constant tantrums and killing everyone.
I see the misinformation machine is kicking up to support Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Israel amendment.

Advocates have a responsibility to be clear about what legislation does and doesn’t do. Her amendment did NOT cut off offensive aid to Israel. We shouldn’t pretend it does.

My statement on it:

I want to know the thought process of a guy who voted for Trump in 2016, disliked him by the end of his term, voted for Biden in 2020, disliked him by the end of his term, voted for Trump in 2024 and now dislikes him again
I ain't no math genius but it sure looks like most people are once again sick of this guy's shit.

Again showing the DNC has disdain for voters and views their job as disciplining and finger-wagging their base, not listening to and representing their base.

Honestly at no point were these numbers low enough for Dems to more or less cave to Republican narratives on the issue and/or stop defending immigration as an institution
Share of Americans saying immigration is good for the country has hit a new high
July 12, 2025 at 12:08 AM
“Meet people where they are” is something Dems failed to do in 2024. The base massively, overwhelmingly supports Medicare for all, raising taxes on the rich by a lot, ending the genocide in Gaza etc. A Dem candidate that loudly and authentically supports these things will crush Maga
This is what’s possible when you listen instead of lecture and run a campaign focused on working people.

I just know there’s millions of people in this country who have a favorable opinion of the healthcare system but also don’t have insurance bc they can’t afford it lol
Favorability of the American Healthcare System:

Unfavorable: 56%
Favorable: 33%
