Dropping on Sunday… @apleyland.bsky.social & I talk some more recent overlooked Batman stories.

Here’s a hint about one of the stories we’re talking about.

Hear me out…

Do a new version of Spider-Man: Rock Reflections of a Super-Hero but have Andrew Garfield do all of the Spider-Man songs.

Censure is one of the best Claire Kincaid episodes of Law & Order. Claire was one of, if not THE most nuanced of the assistants on the show & this episode is a good example of why. Kudos also to David Groh as Judge Thayer.

Also, Jane Kaczmarek is in this one and she is incredibly good as well.

So I took my guitar
And I smashed it against the wall
I smashed it against the floor
I smashed it againt the body of a varsity cheerleader
Smashed it against the hood of a car
Smashed it against a 1981 Harley-Davidson
The Harley howled in pain
The guitar howled in heat

Is…is he going to give her a Stone Cold Stunner?
I still can’t believe they used this image as their ad campaign for THE ELECTRIC HORSEMAN.

Every moment that people say shouldn’t have happened in a series or to a character eventually led to the thing you love about that series or character.
Anyone have a particularly hot comic take?

Share a TV series you’ve watched beginning to end more than once.

Dirk does a full rundown of the cast and it is beyond awesome that Kerry Shale is back as the Joker.

I’m also excited that Dirk got to do this. Nothing against the Warner audio version of the late nineties but I was always pulling for Maggs to adapt this.
RELEASED TODAY thanks to Penguin Random House and DC Comics our ‘audio movie’ of the graphic novel KINGDOM COME by Mark Waid and Alex Ross. This production gave me the chance to return after three decades to both Metropolis *and* Gotham City. Here's what the author says about our new version: 1/14

The Overlooked Dark Knight is back and this time @apleyland.bsky.social and I are celebrating the 85th birthday of The Joker by talking about a series that is really about Jim Gordon.

Because why not?

Or why so serious, I guess.

The only thing I am absolutely sure about Yaphet Kotto is that he was, in fact, Alonzo Mosely.
Yaphet Kotto in BLUE COLLAR (1978)

He was BOTD in 1939

One of my favorite smaller bits of Superman was seeing Steve freak out about saying goodbye to his cat. It was a great comedic beat during a tense scene.
A moment where Steve Lombard cried over his cat, Penelope, was cut from the film due to pacing (as was sadly my cat Emily’s cameo). #Superman

I honestly think this would read better as, “Lightning Lad created AI app that creates avatars for dead relatives.”

My only real exposure to Steve Englehart’s writing until recently was his Batman run (which is phenomenal) and his Green Lantern work (which is a bit wonky as it goes on).

Having now read a selection of his seventies Marvel work…y’all…I am now a fan.

Bought this shirt last night and then conversation with Rachel.

Me: We were all issued that when I was a teenager.

Her: The shirt?

Me: No, Spider-Man #1. Everyone had it. It’s like that gag from Wayne’s about Frampton Comes Alive. If you were buying comics in 1990 you had this book.

Saying that SNAP benefits can’t be paid because the government is shut down is one thing.

Actively fighting to keep those funds from getting to people is a willful act of trying to keep people who need money for food from having it and they is fucking evil.

One of those “it’s impossible to adequately measure how much this show means to me and how much of an impact it has on my love of superheroes in general and the Hulk specifically” is the Incredible Hulk television series that ran from 1977 to 1982. 1/
November 5, 2025 at 2:46 AM
I shouldn’t be as annoyed that Icons Unearthed: Marvel for ignoring the 1982 animated Hulk series and saying that the 1996 series was Fox Kids when it was on UPN.

I shouldn’t be. But I am.
