Me to myself all the time: Your opinion is not relevant or value-add to most situations, you don’t need to share it.

Also me, a non-moron who’s been around the block a time or two and knows Some Stuff, every morning when I read what the admin & its’ allies are saying & doing:
What the fuck are you talking about, man?

It’s impossible to overstate how crucial Fed independence is to the economic security of American households, markets, and the global economy itself. Most people don’t seem to comprehend how badly a politicized Fed would harm their personal circumstances, but the cautionary tales are out there.
Janet Yellen in FT oped - Trump’s attack on the Fed threatens US credibility. History teaches us that chaos follows when leaders undermine the independence of central banks www.ft.com/content/d2ea...

I think my dog might be running a protection racket. Backyard fauna status:

Lizards: fat, unbothered. Cut a deal?
Field mice: low life expectancy, occasionally brought to human servants as tip since she doesn’t pay for the maintenance of her lifestyle.
Rabbits: negotiations underway?

Me: Can’t chat, helping 5th amazing AF friend the last few years whose husband decided Ashley Madison/hookers were worth torpedoing a 20+ year marriage.

Is keeping your word and not being shitty really so hard? I’m not enjoying all this stereotypical middle-aged bullshit.

The Household Sovereign surveys her domain. Since she pays her staff only in snuggles and slobber, we must regularly depart the realm to earn ducats elsewhere. This displeases her. Staff periodically considers a union drive, but then Sovereign does something adorable and we don’t.

@gidgetfuentes.bsky.social Small world. I was the Pilot-in-Command for this repatriation flight. It was our honor to be part of it; one of the things in my mil career I actually feel good about.

Military women have plenty of experience dealing with sexist clowns. But these are America’s elected leaders, so it’s also our country telling us: “Your service doesn’t matter, because you were never good enough.”

@fpwellman.bsky.social and I share the benefit and curse of similar background and experiences, and this piece gets at something that’s long gnawed at me. So I’m going to write about some things that may not seem related, but are. Long 🧵👇🏻

I know how this ends. Do you? Are going to not see it? My latest is an angry screed at the hate that goes into masked men taking immigrants from their hearings to meet their evil quotas. Please share. open.substack.com/pub/fpwellma...

To this day, my friends and cousins and I (high-school kids in SoCal in the early 90’s) can and do conduct entire conversations using only lines from this movie. Clueless is both far more brilliant and decent than it ever got credit for and deserves a place in the pantheon of American classics.
"Cher and her father Mel are both kooks who think they’re the baseline for determining normalcy—like everyone else in the movie, really. All great comedies have this in common, and Clueless is one of them."— I got to write about a movie that I absolutely adore

When I was growing up, my grandparents had an apple 🍎 farm. It was their retirement project; not a large-scale agricultural concern by any means. Our family could handle the entire harvest in a long weekend. For 15 years, every Columbus Day weekend my parents would pull us out of school… 🧵👇🏻 1/10
When The U.S. Government Tried To Replace Migrant Farmworkers With High Schoolers
In 1964, a program that brought migrant Mexican laborers to the U.S. ended. So the U.S. recruited American students to pick crops instead. When they saw their living conditions, strikes ensued.

Yesterday my family and friends and I, along with millions of our fellow Americans, celebrated our Independence Day as John Adams prescribed, with “bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other.” Today the fight for a more perfect union continues. See you out on the line.

@rexhuppke.bsky.social and I share a 4th of July attitude this year…”My America fights back against tyranny and indecency with ridicule, peaceful protest, and voting…I’m not going to look at the flag and feel ashamed. That flag still represents a country I believe to be well worth fighting for.”
This July Fourth, my patriotism looks like two middle fingers – and that's OK | Opinion
As America enters the Fourth of July with a president behaving in un-American ways, it's worth wondering what patriotism should look like.
