I’m not sure I’m happy with this experiment, but I’m gonna call it done. Might try it in a different style at the weekend.

This looks so fucking bad. Woooow.
First trailer for Darren Aranofsky's new AI animated series 'On This Day... 1776'

Anyway, I finished Dark Souls’ NG+ again last night to get the Steam achievement for The Dark Lord ending, and for the first time ever I managed to keep Solaire alive until the end.

Amazed by how trivial he makes that last fight.

Some petty smugness: when I got laid off 18 months ago, I was told it was because they wanted to focus on hitting SEO targets and were engaging a specialist org to do that instead (who I also proved were prolific plagiarisers).

2 years later, my work still does more numbers than theirs.

Inspired by my latest Dark Souks replay, I sketched this yesterday, fucked up the shading, and then ruined the physical piece, but thankfully I take progress pics so I’m gonna paint it digitally later.

Microsoft provides technology that upholds Israel’s apartheid and powers ICE’s deportation and detention infrastructure.

It’s strange to watch people express genuine, justified rage at ICE and then immediately fawn over Xbox reveals like Microsoft exists in a gamer vacuum

I’ve done the whole of Dark Souls solo the first time around so have nothing to prove, which means I’m not super precious about summoning for follow-up playthroughs as a timesaver.

However, I will *never* summon for Sif or Artorias.

Those two deserve the honor of one on one combat.

Quality performance art. Easy to parse, thematically relevant, kinda gross. Love it.

FYI, this article doing the rounds is over a year old, and a more recent report from Capcom said they shouldn’t use it because of the (justified) reactions from the gaming community when studios do. I really hope that stays the same.

Whenever I take a short break I do a quick run through 3rd Strike’s arcade mode on the Anbernic. Much better than scrolling for 10-15 mins.

Anyone use Proton Mail? After doing a really good job of removing Microsoft from most aspects of my life, I'm now looking at doing the same with Google.

I have played through Dark Souls *umpteen times* and only last night, in my current run on PC, have I discovered a Vagrant.

I didn’t even know they existed. Researching them makes that seem all the wilder.

I can’t believe I’m still finding new things out all these years later. What a game.

Did more experiments after porting the original sketch to Procreate, all unfinished. Which is best?

Me today:

(I haven’t played the series on PC before so what choice did I have, honestly?)

Echoes of Wisdom done. A wonderful game that happens to have the series’ least interesting final boss fight.

I cannot stress this enough: this is not possible

in a literal technological sense: you cannot train an AI and expect even comprehensible results with under ~1 million pieces of data, nobody can supply all that with the variance needed. You can only achieve it through wanton scraping
Larian CEO says Divinity could have gen AI assets in it but only if the tools are trained on the studio's own data.

"If we use a GenAI model to create in-game assets, then it'll be trained on data we own."
