am not a yank but

any time I was around pumpkin carving as a kid the innards were kept to make pumpkin soup (unless u were me. me is allergic to pumpkin.)

iirc traditionally it wasn't specifically pumpkins! any vegetable large enough would be carved, but gourds do tend to be the most carve-able

The tech metals are notably rare outside of the ore caches, which you unlock in the scount menu after completing enough of the geologist's quests!

The book from the "Where to Mine?" quest helps a lot to work around it, I usually progress flint > certus quartz > nether quartz
