As I'm getting a lot of new followers, it's probably worth doing an intro post. I'm Fiadh, a trans femme nonbinary person living in Scotland. I tend to post a lot about the banalities of my life plus whatever crap is going on in the real world. I play warhammer. And grow my own fruit and veg
They're cute and happy and some of them are definitely adjacent to my idealised mental image of what I would like to be

When I said we weren't here to be disappointed in Labour but to replace them. I meant it.

This is the key point everyone should remember. If rights don't apply to everyone, they apply to no-one. Rather, they are privileges granted to you by the beneficence of authority and can be withdrawn at any point.
As soon as they don't apply to all humans, they cease to be human rights, and become just rights for the privileged based on hierarchy.

Woah! So Labour's position really is, 'telling us off for breaching human rights undermines the case for human rights'? Proper Trumpian stuff from Labour's answer to Suella Braverman.

The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights has written to the UK highlighting concerns around threats to freedom of assembly because of increasing restrictions on protest, and the threat to the human rights of trans people resulting from the UK Supreme Court judgment in April.
Read my two letters to the #UK:
1. Protests: I call for a review of the legal framework and the reconsideration of provisions in the Crime & Policing Bill that could restrict freedom of assembly.
2. Trans people: I warn against exclusion&zero-sum approaches

Quite a bodying, here, for the UK, from the Commissioner for Human Rights, Council of Europe.

🏮 He points out the Supreme Court ignored human rights (which breaches its legal obligations)
🏮 He says, in effect agreeing with Lucy Powell, Parliament should be involved...

yeah, I'll help if I can
Have you already been to uni or FE college? Where in the UK are you at the moment? Most grants and scholarships will be specifically for first time undergraduates but depending upon your current qualifications and the course, you maybe able to find financial support

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Six months ago @ilgaeurope.bsky.social reported that the UK has "no functioning legal or administrative process for legal gender recognition." and that it has a " legal frameworks that make LGR completely impossible."

The UK also has no functioning trans healthcare service now either!

I can't do millennial complaints, but my most GenX complaint is that cynicism should not be an excuse to roll over or tell others to quit.

It's the armor you need to continue to fight when you know you won't be the one to benefit from it.

Yeah, we're fucked.

Now get your hands dirty.
i don't want to hear your most boomer complaint. what's your most millennial complaint?
Sounds like fun, sign me up
He also bemoaned what he saw as "the radicalisation of a generation. In the name of a new ideology, a new religion – a mix of Marxism and narcissism and paganism, self-worship and nature-worship all wrapped up in revolution."

Oh look. It's Streeting with him and Epstein's mutual pal Mandelson. It would be terrible if it got circulated
It has come to my attention that many of you have been sharing this photo of Streeting and Mandelson widely.

Please remember that Wes Streeting does not like it being shared widely. So please do not share it widely and on every possible occasion. We wouldn’t want to upset him would we?

UK Government announcement of additional Online Safety Act regulations, not yet published www.gov.uk/government/n...

Note the direction of travel: OSA requirements that currently oblige platforms to proactively "protect" children from content will be extended to protect adults.
The government has today (8 September) announced urgent action to toughen the Online Safety Act by putting stricter legal requirements on tech companies to hunt down and remove material that encourages or assists serious self-harm, before it can destroy lives and tear families apart.

While platforms already have to take specific steps to protect children from this dangerous self-harm content, the government recognises that adults battling mental health challenges are equally at risk from exposure to material that could trigger a mental health crisis or worse.
What the actual fucking fuck? This headline is surely up there in terms of dystopian hellscape in how casual it seems

Glad you had a good night. Are you going to do something about the fact that last night some of the visiting 'fans' vandalised the pride flag at the Regent?
I've started doing single rune readings in order to reconnect to them after many years where I've let my practice lapse.

The first one yesterday was Perth (perdho). Today it's lagaz.

Whatever could this mean for a trans femme contemplating asking for referral to the local gic?
Most of the sheds at my allotments were broken into last night. Nothing appears to have been taken, nothing was vandalised in them, just someone decided to force entry to the sheds. Oh, and walk all over people's raised beds. I honestly can't understand what motivated them
I bought my copy from @lighthousebks.bsky.social

ps: I really enjoyed it!
Anyone else been moved onto an all in one inhaler (ie combining both preventor and reliever)? How are you finding them? I'm not entirely sure mine is as effective as the old two inhaler system
