Very pleased to see Isobel's article on Length-of-day published in the Edinburgh Student Journal of Science #ESJS. 🕰️🌍🎉

This was my first experience in independently supervising an undergraduate project, and I must say I am very proud of what my students achieved!

Give my supervisor a listen, as he excellently explains the south Atlantic anomaly in the geomagnetic field 🧲 🌍 @bgs.ac.uk
A weak spot in the Earth’s magnetic field has nearly doubled in surface area since 2014.

BGS Geophysicist Ciarán Beggan appeared on @earthskyscience.bsky.social's podcast to explain why this is happening, and what the consequences might be.

Very excited to be at the #DeepDyn dynamos in a nutshell workshop at @mpsgoettingen.bsky.social !

The most exciting thing, of course, is to learn how to use the #MagIC dynamo code. 🌍

Second most exciting thing is having vegan currywurst for lunch! 🌭

We are expecting an increase in geomagnetic activity over the next few days due to increased solar activity.

A coronal mass ejection (CME) is expected to arrive this evening making STORM periods likely, potentially peaking at moderate (G3) or strong (G4) levels.

This is a fab resource created by Esther Bull as part of the Geoscience Outreach course and then adapted by Sanika Prakash our Open Textbook intern. I love that it can be adapted for multiple learning levels!
