I do each panel in Paint / stick figures in a notebook, even though I can't draw. I assumed this is control freak behavior, but so far every artist I've worked with said that these were super helpful.

It's fine, there are plenty of books where the inverse is true. If you read diverse authors, that's a healthy diet. If it's not a hateful or condescendinng text, you can enjoy the craft that went into it.

He does, he does. I grew up with more progressive writers, reading him now, he's okay. Up there with Wolfe & PKD, old fashioned, decent. Nothing worse than in Le Guin's older work, killer sentences, sharp wit, suave self-aware male-centrism, but not at the expense of others, if that makes sense.
