A reminder: Trump 1.0 ordered the Afghanistan withdrawal, and Trump 2.0 granted the shooter asylum this past April. Trump 2.0 also dismantled the joint terrorism task force, and gutted our national security apparatus.

From the perspective of an atheist/agnostic secular humanist, the ONLY difference between crazy Muslim fundies enforcing "sharia law" (which isn't happening in the US), and crazy Christian fundies enforcing their own extreme, oppressive religion-based law (which IS happening in the US), is the hats.

I don't know what to believe about the DC shootings right now. I definitely can't believe anything out of a president who is also a serial and pathological liar.

A sad irony in Washington, D.C., where West Virginia National Guardsmen were shot today. Six days ago, a court ruled their deployment was illegal, but stayed the order pending appeal. My heart goes out to these public servants and their families. oag.dc.gov/sites/defaul...

precisely my thought. the president and his dumbass republican allies put these men and women into harm’s way for a political stunt and look what has happened
Whether this was random street crime or targeted political violence, I think it was bad for the president to unnecessarily put the National Guard in harm’s way like this. They simply don’t need to be there.

My thought for today: Many of us have shared that it’s devastating to learn that so many people we thought we knew are not who we thought they were. But the other side of the coin for me has been to discover how many amazing, caring people there are out there. Thanks for giving me hope friends.

You don't diminish the education of nurses and other skilled health care workers by removing the "professional" designation to their degrees if you want the country to have good health care. We need more people in the field. You don't discourage them, you incentivize them.

Everybody poops, sometimes. Trans people pay taxes to support public facilities just like everyone else, and visit the restrooms that correspond to the biological sex they present so that there they can poop in peace. Forcing a trans man to use the women's facilities would DEFINITELY cause a scene.

There is no point in time during someone else's pregnancy that pernicious religious conservatives should be allowed to interfere with and/or direct said pregnancy, from conception to birth.
I've never considered this to be a radical position, but conservatives think it is.
