I finally finished The Dragonbone Chair yesterday. What a great ride. It was slow-paced at first, but the second half is impossible not to get hooked by. Beautifully written, with slow, steady, and truly rewarding character development. Starting the next book tonight.

This is because Netflix has a specific list of approved digital cameras and a specific production pipeline that ends up making everything look extremely same-y. Nothing else looks like a Netflix show, but every Netflix show looks like a Netflix show.

As some of you know, I'm reading @tadwilliams.bsky.social 's Memory, Sorrow and Thorn trilogy for the first time—taking it at a very relaxed pace. The Dragonbone Chair has been my companion for the past few months, and I've just reached a pivotal and deeply emotional moment in the story.

It’s amazing how Archeology reproduced racism and Orientalism when studying the kingdom of Kush in Sudan and even ancient Egypt. A long way to go, a long way redoing things.

Rereading Michel Foucault for the umpteenth time. It’s really fascinating that we have in Brazil a great book published in the 1970s’ called Microfísica do Poder (Microphysique du pouvoir), which was not translated to English so far. It’s such a great collection of essays, interviews and lectures.
