What would Keanu Reeves do? Try that. Science. Math. History. Literature. Film and stage. Happy in any environment where people are reasonable and compassionate. Merciless to those who punch downward. Working on being a better person (eventually). No bots.

The most frequently recurring mistake I have made in my life is being afraid to risk discomfort or rejection for the sake of loving and helping other people. And for the sake of learning and growing.

I still screw up, but I blame no one for my choices. And I gratefully share credit for the wins.
@jimsamuel.com Some federal workers speaking for themselves seem disappointed in the capitulation
If you’re wondering, this is exactly how we federal workers feel

We’ve been fighting for this country since Jan 20th. Leadership needs to fight too

"We went into this shutdown knowing we would suffer but it would be worth it for the country. This deal is a slap in the face to every federal worker"

If you’re worried about your retirement account, guess what will happen when the Dems retake Congress in ‘26?

A divided government acts as a moderating force that throttles change. The market loves stability. Keeping demented idiots from enacting stupid executive orders will be a VERY good thing.

Pass the word. Solar has become so ubiquitous in Oz that it can provide free power for 3 hours per day.

One month ago #solar was declared the world’s cheapest energy source. This is weighing all costs of capture, storage and transmission. University of Surrey study.
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

Do you believe the benefits of improved efficiency and productivity should be enjoyed by all, or only by those who control the means?

#ProjectHailMary is another wonderful story by Andy Weir.

Common themes I love. True friendship transcends any barriers. Science is the best way to solve huge problems. We all win when we set aside our egos and work together. When you build in redundancy to all systems, you increase your odds.

The GOP controls all three branches of government.

They are actively dismantling civil service institutions, cutting taxes for themselves and their donors, denying rule of law and transparency, and collecting bribes to fund real and virtual temples to themselves.

And lying with impunity, nonstop.

I have an idea for what to do with the #EpsteinBallroom in the future.

Turn it into a museum that exhibits the moral vacancy of the GOP-MAGA, including the evidence of criminality, ignorance, & abuse of power.

A quiet monument to excess deaths, families torn apart, needless suffering, and trauma.

Up is down, black is white, dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria! I’m cheering for MTG speaking the truth even though it’s only because now she is going into a future election cycle without the endorsement of The Melon Felon. None of them are as stupid as they pretend to be.
This sounds familiar.

Ordinarily I see CNBC posts for “Substitute teacher, 33, makes $647k with side hustle”, “Newlywed couple, 23 & 25, eat only rice to retire at 30” and other such unicorn fables.

But this one has video and is inspiring to this 55 year old. :)

This is the kind of thing that happens when you “wait in line and follow the law line everyone else” but the SS thugs have a quota to meet.

We don’t have an immigration problem. We have a bigots-are running-law-enforcement problem.
ICE kidnapped a 7th-grader with a pending asylum claim and spirited him out of state without notifying his parents, seemingly with the cooperation of the local police in Everett, MA.

The best things do tend to circle back around. Or maybe my optimism has me attuned to good things so I see them reappear. Beautiful art and music. Compassion. Thoughtfulness. Forgiveness. Acceptance. Openness to new information and experience. And letting go of anything we can’t take to the grave.

#shakycamera is such a gimmick. When you cut back and forth from scenes with movement and actual instability it’s incredibly transparent and inauthentic to jiggle the cam like you have the DTs.

I can’t get over The Lost Bus. I know Paul Greengrass isn’t the only filmmaker who does this.

American Samoa.
Puerto Rico.

Northern Mariana Islands.
Babies born here are USA citizens by birthright.

I turned on The Lost Bus going that it would be a passing disaster movie. Instead after about 8 minutes I had to stop watching. The abuse of the handheld camera - no steadicam - was horrible. Who directed this crap? Last time I endured this kind of frame fucking was The Bourne Ultimatum.

I want major network news journalists to have a body language and voice monitor that uses AI to evaluate the tension that interviewees exhibit when they’re responding to questions.

Imagine all the red alerts that would go off when interviewing any member or appointee of this administration.

Wow. I’m shocked that there was no one willing to step in and knee this man in the face for attacking this small, unarmed person.

But thank goodness they all had their phones out. 🙄
Sickening behavior by this agent. The fact that Mayor Adams has rolled out the red carpet for ICE is a stain on our city.
I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)

1/ I feel like it’s time to pull together a new group for men. Starting with progressive Gen Xers who have watched anxiously as their “me generation” parents mostly shit the bed and let the 1% extract all the wealth while freezing wage growth and draining the coffers of Social Security.

My son was 9 and we were still wearing masks in public places. He was given an assignment to draw himself in black and white pen on red paper. Notice the use of light and dark to define shapes, the hair, and the plaid fabric of the mask. He was 9.
