Happy Independent Bookstore Day! Read Maris's piece, then go show your local indie bookstore some love. They're so much more than places to get books--they are places to engage with ideas and others in your community. Staffed by actual humans to help you find the books you didn't know you needed!

wow look at all of these better alternatives to Adobe that exist

ask me about Pixelart programs if interested in that aspect specifically because you *definitely* don't need PS for that, lol

for sure! i'm in favor of space exploration and colonization but only for the betterment of humanity (and we have more pressing issues rn) but one has to realize it is also possible to use space for our benefit ;)

Not sure I've ever seen a more obvious picture to remind us that police exist to protect the property of the ruling class, not the rights of the people.

Me on book panels: Sex scenes can explore dynamics between the characters that might not otherwise be expressed, as a moment of intense intimacy is also a moment of intense vulnerability.

Me when somebody asks what's the point of my sex scenes : *blows cigar smoke* cause it's hot
The desexualisation of media (everyone is beautiful, and no one is horny) combined with an increasing hysteria around the 'pointlessness' of sex scenes is a key part of the fascistization of western culture and if we're going to fight back we're going to need to make it normal to be horny again.

Hello #Bluesky #authors #writers. You have been an amazing support of the SAG-AFTRA strike, & against AI misuse. Perhaps you might lend your signature to the letter against Data3, which unlawfully used thousands of books (including mine) to train AI. (Link to open letter in article)
9,000 authors rebuke AI companies, saying they exploited books as 'food' for chatbots
A letter signed by 9,000 authors calls out AI companies for allegedly using the writers' books to train chatbots without consent, credit or compensation.
