One measure of experience, of life encompassed, is the ratio of giddiness versus sobbing when one is drunk. Youth is too often celebrated for the simple state of paucity of pain. But true pain requires having imbibed true joy.

I just had to `stty sane` and it made me realize just how long since I had to do that.

I need a new AI image generator without content restrictions. I can no longer make urban fantasy handouts/promo for a LARP. I have a "fire elemental" and law enforcement aspect. No major AI will generate images set in the modern day with "violence" like fire and law enforcement.

There are two types of coders using AI. The second type appends many prompts with, "Make no changes, give no code, just explain why this is happening and what needs to happen to fix this." DRY applies to communication too.

Can somebody please create a benchmark for various AI services that measures their speed of output in baud? I just had a flashback to the 300/1200 baud BBS era.

Well, this is fun. It is sort of limited, but the concept is great.

Using AI to write music or a robot to walk your dog has the danger of becoming like hiring somebody to watch a sunset or go on a vacation for you. Unless you're clearing time to do what you need to do or want to do, you might be optimizing the goals and joy out of your own life.

Time, like space, creates different cultures. Today few picture anybody dining with six round cutlery.

For me, chemistry and chemicals are happy things. They make me, puppies, stars, and are our understanding of matter and its impact and use in our lives. I can not understand chemophobia. Respect it when dangerous, like avoiding a wild bear, but not hate for the bear or nature.

As soon as I saw the dual follow spots in medbay, I knew where the scene was going. I run loads of scenes in the Oneiros and Temenos in a RPG I run, and it felt perfect. #KatraSpace #StrangeNewWorlds

People keep talking about Actual Play shows with tabletop roleplay. Let's remember the OG roleplaying shows: Actual Play LARP? Soap operas.

I've found a great new multi-language front end UI/UX library that is super easy and fast. The end result is also intuitive for users. It's called 500 Server Error. High support on caniuse as well.

Plastic model prices haven't changed: Walk into Michael's and buy a P-61 model kit from Revell for $4.20 1970 dollars; in 1970, a typical model kit cost about $3 to $5. It's just that in today's dollars that same price is now $35. (Note: crazy high end models are now a new option).

LLMs are just incredibly great lossy data compression with a reasonably good but semi-randomized search algorithm built in.

I just rewatched the end of S2 of Strange New Worlds, and I forgot how much I disliked the last few seconds. A Captain horrified, unable to speak is dramatic, but that's a Captain; a specific type of hero archetype. Don't stand there when your crew is literally asking for orders.

It's not that all good cheese smells like feet. It's that if it smells like feet and tastes good, it must be cheese.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast: 2025 is weird. I do like Brak with a mustache. Moltar Muratori is better than the original, IMO.

We are in a fact rich environment that drives out wisdom, compassion, and forgiveness for the essential fallibility of humanity. AI isn't going to help that. That requires emotional and mental effort and sacrifice, which isn't super popular, especially the latter.

This is a great example of using 3D printing to create something novel. I've been following him for years, and most of his past work has been unfeasible to reproduce. (Not affiliated with the Kickstarter, I just like the guy's musical innovation).

After the doctor and nurses left and Sarah had her DNR bracelet on the way, she did the dorkiest thing, reflecting her passion and profession of science. She Nelson laughed and said, "I get to collect the data first." I suppose one of my last phrases should be, "Let's hear it for reproducibility."

Posting to be indexed for the next person confounded by this: Bliss and Milkdown are not compatible. Bliss Shy works fine, or you can comment out the first event capture from Bliss (right at the end of the source). It isn't necessary unless you mix Vanilla JS and Bliss events.

My diet for the week will never be a Facebook trend: when you get hungry, drink black coffee, go into your backyard, and dig another section of the drainage ditch. It works, but is likely not going to be a trend. Unless TikTok turns it into an over the top challenge, with 40 foot deep chasms.
