Qui sera le prochain grand pâtissier! It’s on YouTube in French, but there might be some english subtitled versions out there youtube.com/playlist?lis...
They use Tonka constantly on this French baking competition I watch and I’m so curious to know what it tastes like. Knowing it’s a bean only heightens the mystique.
If you do end up stocking it, I feel like a bakery in Joshua tree could market the heck out of mesquite treats. A bunch of park signage talks about mesquite, including this neat video www.nps.gov/jotr/learn/p...
It will take months to finish the bag I have, since I only occasionally make cookies, quick breads, etc. I don’t see myself buying more than one pound or so at a time, but I bet the serious bread bakers would go for a larger package.
Is the mesquite generally commercially available? I don’t use it quickly, but I would definitely buy more in the future. The David Lebovitz mesquite chocolate chip cookies are sooo good.
I’d love to see what it would look like if we stopped denying that our economy depends on immigrant labor and actually gave out a realistic number of visas and green cards. Less labor exploitation and state-inflicted atrocities, obviously, but what else would change?
I put butterfly weed seeds in my community gardens little seed library, and I plan to grow and give away seedlings next spring. I’ve been thinking about it for a while, and your emphasis on native plants and taking action helped push me over the edge.
The anti microbial properties are good, and it’s also a solvent that can help remove non biological smells. I’ve used a spray bottle of cheap vodka to get smells like mothballs and cigarettes out of vintage clothes.
I do a lot of niche laundering for special items. Silk robes get hand washed or sprayed with vodka, things I hand knit get hand washed with special soap, my grandmother’s quilt gets washed with color catchers to prevent bleeding, etc.
What are your favorite activities to do with a 9 - 12 month old baby? I’m at home with my boy and starting to feel like I should be doing more with him than the standard reading, toys, songs, and walk around the neighborhood.
Now I’m reminiscing. Caterers gave us the fanciest treats, but the best was the window washing vendor that filled a five gallon bucket with winter citrus. I missed those presents when I moved to a government job.
This feels like inverting the trope of having an average person competing alongside olympians. No way is a pro making the common mistakes, at least not on the sewing aspect of things.
