I write stories, draw pictures, and take care of reptiles.

At the same time I am pleased and proud to look at my drawing and I despair at how far I have to go as an artist before I can actually make the picture on the page match the vision I wish I could create. I do really like her jacket, though.
I agree restructuring could help, this is a good start
I agree, it’s just figuring out how to do it elegantly that’s the problem. As is the difficulty with pitches.
Yeah, I think adding the word “own” might help? “Vreta must reveal her own deepest secret—her mind magic.”
Vreta has the mind magic and is trying to save the girl. (The duchess has mind magic too but I am referring to Vreta in the pitch)
Thank you! I wonder if it would help if I replaced the word “girl” with “child”?
It’s Vreta. Thank you for the feedback, I will see if I can make that more clear.
I don’t know that you need to go all the way back to the drawing board to make it more personal? You could start with something like “Due to their psychic abilities, So-and-so was trained as an assassin against their will…”
I’m having trouble boiling her motivations down into something that will fit into the pitch. If she didn’t save the girl, she wouldn’t be true to herself, she feels that since she has the mind magic it’s her duty to use it for good. And the girl is also her love interest’s sister.
I like this concept but I wish that I got something more personal. This feels too broad and distant to me—I want to know a bit more about your main character(s) and how the stakes affect them personally.
I mean, on a meta level, wealth and privilege? But on a personal level, well, that’s something you’d have to read and find out…

STOLEN MAGIC

To free a girl who’s lost her memories to a ruthless duchess, Vreta must reveal her deepest secret: her mind magic. But she risks losing the trust of the man she’s come to love—and losing her identity to the duchess’s power.
FRIEREN x HUNDRED THOUSAND KINGDOMS

When Kasetris discovers her husband is alive, she leaves her life as a pampered prisoner in the Court of Gods to rescue him from an underground labyrinth. But freeing him means rekindling a rebellion—and they already lost the first round.

I’ve been drawing again! Here is Kasetris, the MC of my current WIP. I know I’ve got room for improvement, both as an artist and as a user of Clip Studio Paint, but I don’t hate it.
My kid used my sewing scissors to cut wrapping paper and I am this close to picking him up early from the birthday party and dragging him out by the ear.
My 80-year-old father still sometimes replies with “I can do it. I can do it nine times” when someone asks him to do something.
My 14yo just told me, “I like building Gundams. That makes me a Zeta Male.”
I’m an elder Millennial and this brought back memories. I have stories I wrote 30 years ago on floppy disks and no way to read them…though honestly, that’s probably for the best.
What about those of us who can’t be bothered to read an article or watch a video but want to have everything spoken aloud to us in podcast format while multitasking? Is it because I’m an Xennial?
The real generational divide is people who refuse to watch a video if it could be an article versus people who refuse to read an article if it could be a video
I’m making my 14yo a Stark costume (from Frieren). Was gonna make my 9yo daughter a Mary Lennox dress but she decided to be a Kpop Demon Hunter instead and I don’t have enough time to do that costume justice if I made it myself.
To me the important question would be how the kid feels they are doing. I was diagnosed as an adult, got good grades as a kid, but was always forgetting things and feeling overwhelmed. I think the problems I had with anxiety starting in my teens were a result of untreated ADHD.
Is there a time frame in which you’d like to see a revised re-submission of a query you requested for #PitchDis, but previously rejected?
