I got to hang out with @literaticat.bsky.social in Rhinebeck! Hadn’t seen her in 10 years!
Great to see @ericasirotich.bsky.social and her lovely family for Bookstore fun! 🤩 and she decorated our shelf-talker for her books! @oblongbooks.bsky.social

Tomorrow is going to be a book distribution event for the ages. If you lost your books in the Los Angeles wildfires, you absolutely need to stop by Diesel Bookstore in Santa Monica from 3-6 to “shop” our selection of new and like new books.

Please share this thread so folks can find us. 🙏📚❤️‍🩹
I wish we could edit posts so that when we find out about these things, we could improve ours feeds.
Protect trans kids. Protect nonbinary kids. Protect queer kids. #protecttranskids

Los Angeles teachers, if you lost your classroom library in the fire, I am a HS English teacher and YA author and I will get you books whenever you're ready for them. The bookish community is here for you. There is no expiration date.

Yeah, I can see that. It’s been so hard to break the habit of opening those and doom scrolling, especially when so much doom keeps happening. 😖 But I don’t feel good about sharing art in those places anymore so there’s less and less of a point in giving them my attention.
Here’s a wintry doodle from last night. #sketchbook #doodle #kidlitart
I really need to train myself to make Bluesky my go to and wean myself off the cursed Meta apps. Have any of you dumped Meta altogether?
Actually HC gets half of that, so the author gets $1250.
This is my newest setup! It’s going to be a shrimp tank; I have red rilis coming from a local breeder soon. Excited to see this tank grow out/fill in!
My obsession, which was reignited early this year after many years away from the hobby, and which has been keeping me sane, is nano freshwater aquariums. This is my new little tank, which will soon be a shrimp home.
Every time I open Bluesky I see lots and lots of cats. Which is GREAT! This is my boy, Sully. But…..
I honestly thought our industry would be one of the few bastions that would refuse to become a part of this soulless machine. I was wrong.
Like, who is really going to want to accept $1250 so a robot can create books in their style? And put them out of work? It’s an insult to even be asked.
Really. I’m so disheartened. What are we going to do? Are all publishers going to head this way? Could we mount enough resistance to make them rethink?
Omg, thank you Breanna ❤️
This is WILD, guys. 🥹
So cool! MAIL DUCK by @ericasirotich.bsky.social is my go-to gift for 1 & 2 year olds, and Good Housekeeping agrees -- they put it on this AMAZING list of the 50 Best Children's Books of All Time. I guess it's officially a MODERN CLASSIC?! 😍

This is just WILD!!! 🤩 Can I retire now? Jk.
