When people refuse, even just refusing raises costs, because Trump must use energy to do violence. Much like a bully, if everyone stands up the bully won't have the strength to beat up everyone. And the minute he fails to make good on threats out of inability to do them he loses that fearful respect

I think it's more important not to use a blanket term like "authoritarianism." It's not a scientific term, but more importantly it creates a false sense of order. There is no order to what Trump's government is doing. Much like with bullies, the answer is rising costs; costs to do tyrannical things

You have a wealthy investor that loses a lot medium to long term in order to make a little more short term. Even rich people don't like this. It doesn't benefit anyone but Trump in his own mind

They don't work for anyone. They tank stocks. Materials costs go up. Imported components costs go up. Sales go down. People become poorer. Investors lose profits. Corporations lose profits. The only people who benefit are the politicians doing it in the short term to prop up tax cuts for pol points

It's at the point now whenever I see someone talking about voter supression I have to ask if it's about voter supression or some weird conservative conspiracy theory like immigrants throwing elections or democrats doing things there is no evidence of them doing.

it just occurred to me that if TERFs truly believed trans women were a type of man invading their bathrooms by throwing on a wig (rather than a type of woman they find icky) they would be protesting by holding sit ins in men's restrooms. for a "doesn't it feel gross when we do this to you" message
