I understand that the latest Highway Code places pedestrians at the top of the hierarchy of road users, above both cyclists and vehicles. Have also to say being struck by a vehicle is probs a tad more dangerous than running into an unwary pedestrian.

The Spectator (owned by GBNews owner Paul Marshall - estimated wealth of £800 million) doesn’t like taxing wealth fairly.

I wonder how they got to this editorial decision?

Let’s tax wealth fairly, fund front line services & make hope normal again.

Holding govts to ransom.

Goldman Sachs warns Rachel Reeves against tax rises on banks.

Banks happy to be bailed out, take QE, mis-sell products, not to be prosecuted for frauds, hike charges, pay lousy rates on savings.

With the particular cycle tracks I have in mind, I’m not sure I’m persuaded by the “more dangerous” argument.
emmahbea.bsky.social
Cyclists rightly call for segregated cycle lanes in Oxford. It’s worth noting, however, there are several busy roads with such lanes but cyclists often don’t use them & cycle in the road. Another dangerous phenomenon is the number of people cycling at night with no lights or reflective clothing.

I guess I’ll take more notice of the #ClactonCuxkoo’s “outrage” when he condemns the verbal & physical assaults by his supporters (evidenced on video) as opposed to this “alleged” assault on Finch apparently reported to the police as a man being “pushed” at 2 a.m. in Nuneaton

Thanks - that would be helpful.

Agree - but my question is factual - what actually happened? A lot of allegation but little fact available on line.
emmahbea.bsky.social
Where can factual evidence of the attack be found? Has anybody claimed responsibility for the attacK? Having been burnt a few times on social media, I feel hesitant to jump to comment without more and better particulars.

How austerity hit young people.

In the decade after 2010 councils’ funding for youth services in England and Wales suffered a real-terms cut of 70%.

By 2023, 1,200 publicly run youth centres closed.

Young people abandoned to fund tax cuts for corporations the rich.
Britain's youth clubs have been quietly decimated. What's most revealing is that few seem to care | John Harris
These vital spaces have been the first targets of cuts in a nation that favours age over youth – despite being the remedy for blights such as social division, polarisation and loneliness, says Guardia...
