I love Bravely Default very much but the story makes no sense

Maybe we would have taken you all seriously if you stopped acting like cartoon villains and murdering people for no reason
It feels like the first chapter of Bravely Default was written by a different person from the rest

It has a few clever lines like "a real Thundaga to the heart" and "you crystal-headed girl". And Edea talks in a much more formal and serious way from the rest of the game

It's honestly _absurd_ how high the skill ceiling is with so few rules

There is a learning curve, but once you've understood how all the spells and the monsters interact, there's soooo much room for creative problem solving
Every few months I remember I have Auro in my library and I get completely hooked on it

This is maybe like, the most elegantly designed game I have ever played
Antichamber does this almost exactly
Get ready for my latest essay, "Is Touhou The New Demoscene?"
Oh that sounds awesome! I should check that out
Update: when I said "you" remember, I clearly didn't mean me
I genuinely do love this game, with all of its issues. It's extremely fun

I just also understand that those issues are a dealbreaker for some people, which is very reasonable
Crash 4 is a lot more fun on replay I think

Because 1. you know which parts of the game are boring and best avoided, and 2. you know the bullshit placements of hidden crates
Woah that's seriously blue
Hm! Don't like this!
I'm thinking of speedrunning Phoenotopia again. That game's sooooo much fun to route
I think this is still my favourite screen in the game
It is!! The music is so serene and calming too, it's such a comfort game for me
I'm still having sooooo much fun with Touhou: Lost Branch of Legend

Working on improving my consistency right now, which isn't great, and I still feel like I'm learning so much
I am doing exactly this with Phoenotopia: Awakening

I missed the vibes so I'm replaying it now
I love soul shield, I love chain cancels, I love the boss design, it's sooooo good
I still think the stat optimization part of the game is extremely boring and I wish it wasn't there

But when you're up against a boss that's at a reasonable level to kill? I don't think any other action game ever has felt as satisfying to me as this one
I played a couple more stages of Stranger of Paradise and MAN this game's still so good
Leave it to ryukishi07 to make me cry with the absolute corniest, cheesiest, most JRPG protagonist speech ass dialogue you have ever seen
