Yes, I am. Mirvis demeans his office (which, by the way, is only the chief rabbi of the United Synagogues, not of all British Jews) with his seemingly unconditional support for a violent ethnostate currently committing a genocide.

Israel’s cheerleaders are conflating Jewish people with Israel and its crimes.

This is a lie - and as @naamoduk.bsky.social's Emili Stevenson tells me, it’s dangerous.

Longstanding rule of British politics: being racist is normal and understandable, calling someone else a racist is completely unacceptable.

Some of my notes from my trip to the West Bank last month.

I haven’t really had the time to comb through them, but what struck me immediately was how profoundly bleak my outlook was.

We are far past the time for performative prayers for peace or token sanctions on individual politicians. The UK must end its complicity. That means a full ceasefire, a full arms embargo on Israel, and an end to systems of occupation and apartheid.

This violence is the predictable outcome of a militarised, ethnonationalist regime, backed by Western governments and fuelled by decades of impunity and arms trade profits.

I’m not falling for the weird sex negative Sabrina Carpenter rhetoric, I did my time in the tumblr discourse mines, you can’t make me go back down there

Unless you're prepared to actually redistribute wealth and power the only kind of change you can offer is some variation on "we will improve your lives by making other people's worse".
Pendle and Clitheroe's Labour MP Jonathan Hinder on immigration policy:

– ECHR "not good enough" and needs significant change
– Should be fewer universities and doesn't mind some going bust
– "Less and less" integration means people living "parallel lives"

we're beginning to enter into "Srebrenica commemoration season" (or: the three months of each year I lose my mind) and I am already readying myself for the all of the sick-making "lessons from Srebrenica" commentary about to appear

The Board of Deputies is and always has been a project of internal regulation and external assimilation.

It cannot be reformed.

We must leave it behind.

Thank you to over 300 friends for joining us at our Freedom Seders in Birmingham, Manchester, Stroud & London over the past days.

The story of Exodus, which we tell each year at Passover, is one of liberation-where we remind ourselves what it means to stand up for freedom in the face of injustice.
