Ifill very interestingly compares office Gothic to traditional Gothic novels: where the heroine in a traditional Gothic novel can grow through conquering various trials, the office worker does the same through his daily trudge and problem solving. #vpfaextremes

I had the immense honour of carrying out a week-long research stay at the British Institute of Florence last week and to consult the Vernon Lee Archive, which contains 400 volumes from Vernon Lee’s personal library, annotated in her own hand. What a treasure trove of discoveries!

Congratulations! Immediately adding it to my TBR pile--it sounds like a compelling read!
I came home last night to find this waiting for me: my first academic monograph. The Gothic at War is developed from my PhD research, with new work on Clara Reeve & Charlotte Smith, exploring the Gothic as a literature of conflict. Thank you to @uniwalespress.bsky.social for being great publishers!
