Rex Tillerson said it best. USA: anti-fascist since 1941.

I want to get active on BlueSky. BlueSky Algorithm: please connect me with people who are keen on discussing (in no particular order): politics, democracy, history, skiing, immigration, dance, dogs, public health, astronomy and astrophysics, technology, feminism and women, nature and humor.

I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.
Who thought people like me would ever agree with Rand Paul?
Someone more brilliant than I came up with this, but I wanted to share it with BlueSky. Let's start referring to Trump's in-progress ballroom as the EPSTEIN BALLROOM. What d'ya think?
I am sick of hearing Trump talk down to female journalists who ask questions he doesn't like. His favorite response is "I don't think you understand this at all," practically ending with "little girl." The one thing I agree with Kim Jong-un on is that he is a dotard. And what Rex Tillerson said.

Physicist and astronaut Ronald McNair was born #OTD in 1950.

McNair spent about 8 days in space aboard Challenger during STS-41-B in 1984. He was one of the seven crew members who lost their lives in the 1986 Challenger disaster. 🧪 🔭

In the 1960s and '70s people used to openly refer to police as pigs. I disagree with this terminology for anyone in law enforcement, but it perfectly suits ICE. And although there are probably some exceptions, these people behave like racist scum.
Using only 15 beans sounds scant. I guess the other ingredients must be more plentiful?
Jim Jordan elected to Congress is the tragic, but very real, joke.
"They’re capable of ... almost intelligent behaviors." I'd say there's nothing "almost" about breaking out of physical confinement in search of food.
Think of any other president doing this. No - wait! - there's been no other president with so many convictions,
Argentina is not a good bet. Hasn't been since the last '20s.

Aaron speaks for me.
I am completely awestruck by the ease with which Mike Johnson lies on a daily basis. I'll never understand how such a transparently fraudulent "man of faith" can live with themselves. Life is too short to be that phony.

Flying over the Rio Grande and Jemez watersheds demostrated how deeply water connects us. As Governor, I’ll invest in river and watershed restoration to protect our water and sustain our state well into the future. @troutunlimited.bsky.social
Why would anyone believe the promise of a proven liar?
Two years ago Argentina went for the weird guy as president. People said he was like Trump, but smarter. That's arguable, but it's a very low bar.

Frogs in slowly heating water is a popular allegory for being unaware that you are being destroyed in an incrementally worsening situation.

But I'm drawing hope from the past week that we frogs may be a bit more aware of our situation than those allegorical frogs. #Hop
Amen.

Right now this country needs a LOT more lawyers.
Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents. They’ve had their necks kneeled on. They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear.

At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them.
More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...
